Are those Volkswagens the PAP are rollin' in? There is another type of car besides the Jeep. Kinda looks like a Pontiac or Mitsubishi. What is it? Thanks.

Which picture are you asking? The Chinese police have been using volkswagens for what seems like forever! A new kind of car they have been using are Hyundai cars. You find them quite often on the roads.

In the picture right above my previous post there are 5 cars lined up in front of a building. Are those Mitsubishi's? I've always been curious about what models police cars are.

Volkswagens? Huh..Can't imangine any US police force rollin' in VW's...Too small. But each police fore,no matter who, drives what is suitable for them.

OH! Those are one of China's newest police car models. You find them everywhere around Beijing. Those are Hyudais. I forgot what class car they are. They are also used as taxis.

Hyudais? Not Hyundai(Korean car)? Never heard of them. Is that a Chinese car I assume? Looks like a Mitsubishi.

Do all PAP have weapons or do just certian officers? Because I notice in the pics some officers appear not to be armed.

Yes the Korean Hyundai (seriously). China is the mass producer for the Hyundai car company. It really is quite popular in China. Trust me. Ive seen these cars up close last summer when I went to China. They are no doubt Hyundai. You must know that PAP is a special division. Most of the pictures posted above were not PAP. PAP is the national SWAT team of China. The main police force is the People's Public Safety. PAP is controled by the People's Public Safety Beauru. In the past the only police officers armed with guns were the PAP. Which gave them the name Peoples ARMED Police. Now, The PAP is used just like your everyday American SWAT team. Generally, not every officer is armed. Officers that go undercover are always armed. Some officers on patrol are armed but most are not. Officers on traffic duty are never armed.

Uh, popeye, you were asking about this, right?

Those aren't Hyundais, those are called Zhonghua. (Given that I had correctly IDed the car.)
    http://www.zhonghuacar.com/english/trends/index.asp

These are indigenous Chinese cars. (And yes, they look like ripped off Mitsubishis and Bimmers, but they are good sedans, maded by Jinbei, which is China's most popular van(Asian vans do NOT look like American vans at all.) brand. Their quality is/should be better than those coming to America-Chery and Jili.)

Hyundai is, however, very popular in China. The majority of Beijing's police force uses the older model of Sonota.(Hyundai is probably considered a middle class civilian's Benz, my uncle just brought an '05 Elantra (bad choice, should for the new model) and the new Accent is praised)

    Are those Nissan Pathfinders?!

I am going to open a Chinese car thread in the Club Room, so if you have any additional comments about Chinese cars, please discuss it there.

I want Asia on my front porch and America as my backyard.
Disclaimer: By America, I meant the Continent. And yes, I know Asian homes have neither a backyard nor a porch in the American sense.
