....And they don't have non-skid on the deck.

It is also my understanding that the RUN cannot do major repairs such as an aircraft engine change on the ADM'K'.

During launch the Russians use that strange deck pop-up hold back chock system to allow the Su-33 to build up thrust. Is there any word on the Chinese using the same system on their carrier?

Wow! Seems like the US Navy system is the time tested and experience tested carrier operations system. You can cut corners at your own risk. I wonder if their LSO system with their guys in that little shelter off the deck works better than having the LSOs standing on the deck?

I think you mean the bubble. those mates in the bubble are working the cats..

LSOs & LSEs will never go out of style!

No I mean that bubble type arrangement the Russians use for their LSOs near the back of their carrier. That's what I was referring to. I will post a picture if you need a reference

    Please post! Thanks!

And I doubt if it works better..the Russians can barely complete 40 sorties over a two week at sea period. By comparison the USN completes 140-160 sorties daily..'nuff said.

You can see a little bit at the end of that Adm "K" video posted by Popeye. I think that's what you were referring to?

Gerry, are all "bubbles" fixed on all US CVs ?

IIRC I saw a video showing that the one on CdeG comes out of the deck during operation, and goes back in when not in use (to make a flat deck)

I think you have to post it in Imageshack first and then use the URL on the web page to post it. I've tried to do it on my computer to post pics on this forum, and I don't think it works that way. I hope this helps. Good luck.

^^Download the photo you wish to post to your computer. Use a photo hosting site such as imageshack, photobucket or imgur to upload it. Follow the instructions on that photo hosting site. Use that URL that say forum to host your photo. Simply paste that URL in your post to show the picture. Give it a shot. Very easy to do.
