I don't know what's the real story behind it, but what I know is that the kid got too close for comfort for the guy with the weapon in his hands, therefore felt threaten by the situation and just reacted in self defense.
Exactly mullet is in easy reach of the Tavor. one of the most important lessons of peacekeeping is keeping your weapon. that kid could have easly made a grab for it and maybe even killed that soldier with his own gun,
Then comes Long hair guy behind the soldier. He can't see what he is up to but his expression and flair of his hair makes me think he might have been trying to attack form behind.
Whatever happens both live and both end up on the business end of the weapon.

I like how the ladies in the background are so nonchalant like nothing is even happening.

I know these are parade pics but do some Vietnamese forces have silencers on their M-16s as standard equipment?

Can anyone identify which force is in each picture? Army, Marines,... etc.

the Blue are the Vietnamese Coast Guard. the brownish type are Vietnamese peoples Army Commando's. The AR's come from Imperial Defense, a British company that manufactures them in Vietnam as Imperial Defense MG4A5 ( full M4 clone) Imperial Defense MG4A6 ( colt Commando)
Edit I am not Sure those are suppressors. I suspect they are a Blank firing attachment or perhaps some form of device intended to prevent firing during parade.

I assume the various groups with the more "antique" firearms are auxiliaries but what about the group in black with what looks like MP-5s?

may be MP5s or indiginuous or Chinese clones. It's likely that the really old guns are more ceremonial. the MP5's are possibly police units.
