To me, I think the most advanced weapon of China should be the nuclear missile and that is currently the only weapon that China can keep balance with the USA.

For the comment of A.Man, I think the mods would take care of you.

Question Re: What is China's most advanced weapon (in hardware + software) in each category?

I am not sure what you exactly mean by "(in hardware + software)"? Could you further elaborate on that?

Destroyer - 052C (H/LJG346 AESA RADAR, vertical launched active HHQ-9 missile)

Anti-Missile - Don't know whether there is one right now. But in the 70' PRC experimented with some ABM systems. Missiles was called FJ-1 IIRC. Never went into service.

    Fighter Jet - J-10B (1 Prototype flying)

Nuclear Missile - DF-31A (Not sure about the status of the JL-2)

    Submarine - 093 (Nuclear), 039A (Non-Nuclear)

At present moment, what you mentioned is all that we could see in the news, watch from the net and stuff like that. But I believe there are many more weaponries either software or hardware, that we do not know about but existed in the arsenals. But I do fully agree that the most important weapons in China (to our knowledge) is the nuclear weaponries. These are weapons that provide a deterance for opposition... making them think twice when planning for a battle with China.

I'd argue PL-9 is China's best air to air missile, or at least it's highest technology such missile. I would bet that in a conflict, it would have the highest kill rate of any Chinese air to air missile, much as Sidewinder does in the West.

The KJ-2000 seems to be a very good AWACS platform.

hmmmm i am not really sure that DF-31A is more advanced than 093 sub, or KJ-2000 than 052C....very difficult question you posed there
