Re: Chinese military exports to other countries

Kanwa recently ran a bunch of stories on Chinese exports and they include the following:

China exporting B-611 and WS-1 to Turkey with ToT (already known before)

China exporting A-100 MLRS to Pakistan, they bought 1 battalion so far and looking to buy ToT for it in a deal that could be worth $200 million USD.

China offering various variants of HJ-8 ATGM and AR-1 ATGM at IDEX 2009.

China exporting FN-6 MANPAD to Pakistan. Even though Pakistan was already producing Anza mk-3 based on QW-2 missile, they have found the newly FN-6 to be that much superior. So, they are going for a new project with this improved technology. FN-6 has also been exported to Sudan. China is also offering the improved FN-16 for export, but it has no orders yet.

China exported two 200-tone gun boats to Cambodia. Nothing to fancy, just has a couple of naval guns, but I don't think Cambodia needs more than that.

China also exported several units of A-100 to Tanzania although the number/price are not disclosed.

China also exported a number of WS-2 MLRS to Sudan.

China exported 2 battalion of PLZ-45 to Kuwait and 1 battalion to Saudi. Apparently, China is also looking to sell GP-1 projectiles to Kuwait. It looks like Saudi is looking for more units of this if all goes well and also looking for possible ToT + local production.

Wow, that seems to be a lot. But is that all?

For the part of Cambodia imported two gun-boats from China. If I remember correctly, the number should be 9. I remember I saw an article sometime ago (not remember) where now. But some people claimed that most of the boats were donated, only a few were paid.

    The Jakarta Post , Jakarta | Wed, 04/01/2009 11:47 AM | National

Following on from the signing of a memorandum of understanding by both Indonesia and China in 2007, the two countries are set to ink a new deal to work more closely in military technology, a top Defense Ministry official said on Wednesday, Antara reports.

"China will help Indonesia develop its military technology," the director of strategic environment analysis, Brig. Gen. Subekti, said in Beijing.

Subekti is attending a China-ASEAN top officers dialogue hosted by the Chinese Academy of Military Science from March 30 to April 2.

Indonesia is expecting China to help its state arms producer, PT Pindad; state-owned ship maker, PT PAL Indonesia; and state-owned aircraft manufacturer, PT Dirgantara Indonesia, to produce upper-medium-class military technology, he said.

"And not only helping us with technology, but also to help market the products produced through the deal," Subekti said.

In 2005, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono visited his Chinese counterpart, president Hu Jintao, in Beijing to sign a strategic partnership deal, which included an agreement to strengthen defense cooperation between both countries.

Indonesia was the first country in Southeast Asia to enter into such a partnership with China. (dre)

Malaysia has ordered a battery's worth of FN-6 MANPADS, delivery expected this year. However, the much publicized purchase of KS1A medium range SAM has yet to materialize.

do you have a link for FN-6? It looked like KS-1A simply didn't fit malaysia's requirement, which is quite understandable.

Re: Chinese military exports to other countries

This is the best I can get on-line. A special report by a local Malaysian daily. Unfortunately its not in English

    Kosmo! Online - Rencana Utama

    Gist of the report:
    - Malaysia and China has long established ties
    - Recognizing China's advancement in technology, Malaysia has bought FN-6 MANPAD
    - Now Malaysia is considering KS-1A system
    - KS-1A has better specifications than its competitors Hawk, Buk and Aster
    - The competitors are also advanced but KS1A has 2 advantages: Cheap and transfer of technology

This is obviously not an objective report. Basically an interview with the local company promoting CHinese defense systems. It appeared early this month, in connjuction with Malaysia's prime minister visit to China. So its a sales pitch for KS-1A but meaning there is still hope for KS-1A yet!

np, something in your post set off the moderation (I won't mention what, but don't worry about it), so it's moderated by default as long as you have less than 10 posts I think.

As for your post, thanks for the info on FN-6, it's good to get a confirmation of the sale.

ANTARA News: RI, China reaffirm commitment to closer military cooperation

More news on Indonesia and Chinese military cooperation. It doesn't say really what the item is and just continues to state what they've been stating.

RI, China reaffirm commitment to closer military cooperation
    Friday, June 12, 2009 18:56 WIB | National | | Viewed 102 time(s)
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian and Chinese governments have reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying their military cooperation, especially through transfer of technology, an Indonesian defense official said.

"We have reaffirmed our commitment to step up our existing military cooperation , especially in the transfer of technology," Rear Marshal Erys Heriyanto, director general of defense infrastructure, said here on Friday, following a working visit to China recently.

He said the military and defense cooperation between Indonesia and China had run well so far, and the two countries had agreed to intensify the cooperation based on mutual respect and mutual benefit.

"I emphasize the importance of the transfer of technology in every military cooperation with any country, including China. So, when we buy weaponry , armored vehicles, and even missiles from any party, including China, it must include transfer of technology," Rear Marshal Erys Heriyanto said.

It was reported recently from Beijing that Indonesia had welcomed China`s offer to cooperate in military technology and in the production and marketing of military equipment.

"Indonesia welcomes the Chinese desire to cooperate in the production of military equipment on the basis of mutual benefit," Indonesian military attache Col. Yayat Sudrajat at the Indonesian embassy in Beijing said last May 2009.

He said Chinese military technology had reached an advanced stage so that Indonesia desired to explore various forms of military cooperation with Beijing.

"This cooperation also constitutes an effort to reduce Indonesia`s dependence on Western military technology," he said.

Yayat Sudrajat said Indonesia-China military cooperation had run well so far. A number of military officers, including defense ministers of both nations, had exchanged visits and held talks.

The Indonesian and Chinese governments signed a defense and security cooperation agreement in Beijing on November 7, 2007.(*)

    ??6??????????????60?? - ???? - ????

basically talks about LS-6 in the Paris airshow. It has apparently already received export orders, from mostly countries that already use Chinese weapons. You can guess which ones are those.

Re: Chinese military exports to other countries

looking at CDF's recent photo, looks like China exported QW-2 to Bangladesh
and here is Bdmilitary's link on this
    http://***************/index.php?opt...=168&Itemid=99

actually, pretty much most of bangladesh's weapons are from China, so this is not much of a surprise.
