Airbus wants to be part of CHina's big plane Program.

China still doesn't have its big turbofan yet for commercial jet. The first one is hard to do without some type of assistance. Maybe they should allow Airbus to acquire 10% share of the JV and provide assistance enable CHina to build the first commerical big turbo fan engine + flight control system.

Wish thinking, but Airbus isn't fools, why would they help create a rival for only 10%?

Because they say they really want to be part of the program.

Boeing has already stated they want in. Their logic is it's better to be a part of it than be closed out completely from the China market when it happens.

Well, they certainly wouldn't settle for 10% if you want some real help from them, besides, this is not the first time China was lured into cooperation with a foriegn company in this field, remember MD? Always turned out bad.
