I'm probably going to by the dvd and try to watch the parade on the cctv website. My cable package doesn't include cctv-9. I'm probably only going to get bits and pieces trying to watch the other stations.

I'm disappointed that Blue Ocean Network isn't planning to cover the parade live or at least that's my impression looking at their program guide.

Does anyone know if sinovision will be covering the parade in it's entirty?

I only heard one marching music played on the 40 min clip on youtube. I hope they can come up with more than one this time as IMO it can get a bit monotonous after a while.

just digressing a moment when you guys were talking about the olmpic opening ceremony, what was with the bagpipes, IMO they over did it there playing the bagpipes when the different countries were entering, and wheres the connection between bagpipes and chinese culture?
    1. those were organized crowd watching from the street. if u didnt notice in the 1999 parade video, they held big coloured boards/flowers over their head and flip them once in a while.

    2. that 1 song is the parade music and it will be used again, yes that's the only one. u can even hear it in cctv videos when they are interviewing in the parade village

    3. olympics had 4 (i think it was 4) different bands from different continents to play different music, it wasn't all bagpipe.

    4. i believe you can live-stream the parade from cctv.com

I am wondering what type of cars they will be using for the review ? Since the 1984 and 1999 parade they were using Hongqi converted limos, but now with so many Chinese brands what will it be ?

    Traditional Hongqi

    Maybe a new Hongqi ?

    Ok, found an answer

Red Flag limo to grace National Day parade.

    September 25, 2009
Chinese automaker FAW Car Co., Ltd. said yesterday that its HQE limousine of the time-honored Hongqi (Red Flag) brand has been designated for official use in the grand military parade in Beijing on National Day, Oct. 1. Jiefang Daily reported.

The Red Flag premium sedan was domestically designed and developed by FAW Car, an old unit of Chinese auto giant FAW Group. The famous Chinese sedan was mainly used by China's high-ranking officials in the 1950s-1980s. The upcoming national celebrations will restore this "official sedan" brand to its former glory.

Chinese President Hu Jintao is expected to ride in the new HQE limo to inspect a grand military parade across Tiananmen Square in Beijing on October 1, 2009, a special National Day to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

As it is a 100% handmade limo, the HQE costs more than 3 million yuan ($439,300). It stretches over 6 meters long. The Chinese-developed V12 engine produces 300kw at 5600rpm and a max torque of 550nm at 4000rpm, and the cylinders measure 84mm x 90mm.

FAW expects this expensive sedan model to rival Rolls-Royce Phantom and Bentley. This can also be easily seen from the model's new exterior, interior, configurations and powertrain while it still features the Red Flag brand's classic elements.

The HQE will be the most expensive Hongqi car ever produced by FAW, with mass production to begin in late 2009, and is likely to go on sale by the end of this year for more than 3 million yuan.

True , but one also saw groups of individuals/ relatives of participants, I was watching one women who must have been cheering for a relative when the girls in red came on, the camera focused on her than panned to the marching girls, of which on looks , one could have been a relative.

True, but bagpipes man they sound like scalded cats Because England is hosting the next games they should have Used Morris Dancers instead. Now thats truly rep. of English culture.

Its the only way Ill be able to see it live, But wont it become overloaded?, resulting in a very slow buffering thus reducing the enjoyment.

For those of you that's frustrated thinking there will only be one song played during the parade, fear no more. There will be 44 songs played by the military band and the songs should match the marching troops. For example. an air force song will be played when the air force march, and naval song played when navy march.

And for those that think if you are just a bit further away from Tiananmen you can watch, forget that idea. The entire length of ChangAn street is closed to tourists/parade watchers.

phew!! thats great news even for the most ardent supporter of military parades, listening to the same song played over and over for a couple of hours, must start to grate on ones nerves.
