The situation in south china sea

I dont think there is a thread about this, so i create one

In the follow up of the incidents in the South china sea, there was a very rare demonstration in vietnam (against china).

But the most serious responce came from the vietnamese defence minister, during the annual IISS Asia Security Summit: The Shangri-La Dialogue in singapure. He had pretty blunt words for china:

Vietnam has handled the incident with "patience," he said, adding that they "expect no repetition of similar incidents."

“We truly expect no repetition of similar incidents,” Vietnamese Defense Minister Phung Quang Thanh said today. Vietnam’s recent purchase of six Russian submarines was in part designed to “make a deterrent to those who have an intention to compromise and impair Vietnamese sovereignty,” he said.

Thats bold words. Do you think that vietnam, after aquiring su-27SK fighters, kilo submarines, and S-300PMU-1 SAM, is ready to confront china ???

And that not mentioning philipines, who also disputes the south china sea with china.

This should be merged with the South China Sea dispute thread. Popeye?

I would suggest closing the thread. This may end up being a troll magnet. Situation could get out of control.

Re: The situation in south china sea

Before this thread actually close (which I hope not):

As a Chinese citizen, I actually not concerning about "whether this will evolve into a war?", not to mention "who would win?"

The both side (or "multi stackholders" of all the parties in the region, as the mainstream media says) knows it is unwise to "invite" what is called "INTERNATIONAL INTERVENE", knowing they are hard to be "clear out" once they came. The Chinese term is 请神容易送神难. (Reason 1)

The reason China is under spot light is because it is eye-catching, but don't forget the whole region got all kinds of "water diputes" among all the parties. (Vietnam got dispute with Philippine and Malaysia also).(Reason 2)

The "China maritime enforcement doing what they are doing, 'clashing' with other parties' maritime entities..." thing, I think is more like what the Russia and NATO has played, throughout all times - Russian sent plane or ship "walk" along with Nato's; Nato send plane or ship "walk" along with Russian... sometimes plane flyover carrier's overhead, sometimes subs crushed another sub... NO WAR BROKE OUT.

Before anyone starting to talk about "China is not affordable for a war" - sure, but please comment on the SANITY of other Chinese-south-sea-neighbors, to make the war brokes out.(Reason 3)

Reason 1+2+3, is my comments, that everyone including China, will play this carefully.
