how a Ming class sub could be more quiet than a kilo?
This is a discussion on PLAN submarines Thread II within the Navy forums, part of the China Defense & Military category; They also claim that somehow the Ming is more quiet than the first Kilos China purchased, and that the Yuan ...
They also claim that somehow the Ming is more quiet than the first Kilos China purchased, and that the Yuan is within spitting distance of the Lada....
But that raises the question of how China can build quiet SSKs but such absurdly noisy SSNs.
how a Ming class sub could be more quiet than a kilo?
Much more possible that its not the 093/094 that they are following, but the improved 091G, then it might make some sense. Noisy level are NOT all that hard to reduce, despite what many believes.
I think this could be a new photo of 092. At least I have not seen this before. It should be taken after the major refit that it was undertaking.
HK Asia times newspaper pubilished an article that said US surveillance satellites will help support US Navy efforts to locate and track PLAN submarines.

Submarine tenders. We have the order submarine tender 863 and the new one 864. The second one is one of the best photos of 864 I've seen. It appears that 864 is stationed in NSF, because there was a picture of a 051C in the same set of photos.
Outside of that, we have a few pictures of the new DSRV that China designed. We have articles coming out that said it reached 2 miles in depth, which makes it one of the few countries to be able to do so. There is a thread in general military section on this, but it really should be on this thread.
Huitong posted this on his site he says is 039B with new sonar and vertical launch tubes for AShMs.

Hmm is it just me, or does there appear to be no diving planes on the sail?
Huitong says that the missiles are supposedly launched via the extended sail -- but that means only like one or two missiles can fit in vertically? EH??
Either way, good to see the RMB class continuing getting upgraded. Hopefully we'll see 095 in coming months (or more likely, years).
a better photo of this new submarine from Wuhan. Or at least this one looks more real, although they smudged the background here.
it says this submarine is actually joining the navy already. It apparently has new sonar system, new weapons system and periscope system.
Almost looks like a mini-Typhoon. I hope China has made a tremendous leap in ASW technology.
the size of the flags are also quite off. for the rope holding toe flags to be so visible at this distance means either the sub is really really small or the rope is really really really thick. i dont doubt that a new sub has been launched but this is definitely not a pic of it. if you ask me this is a plastic model of a kilo hull with the tower of another sub. the proportions are just not right
