They did install the cable arrestor We have good picture of the arrestor during construction.
They definitely can do touch and go. J15 has been in small production batches. We seen at least 3 or 4 of them .
Plus nobody take picture of J 15 anymore because the guy who climb the wall was invited for tea
As to the analyst He is not just anybody. He was former navy commander , Maybe he exaggerate a bit
new pics at CDF by GT, first aerial view of ex-Varyag sea trial on sea
popeye sir, not distrusting your views on this matter, but there was a not so pleasant hat eating somewhere before, i hope we all not go this way for the discussions
.. sadly with that "/%)&$)?/(&%/" logo !
I do hope you will keep your words Popeye :-) ... I think you are just being plainly stu*** ... you wouldn't gain anything .. and you have everything to lose by eating your hat without salt to prove you are right/expert ?
Tell me what the taste of your hat without salt ? will you cook it with pepper ? .. perhaps in a couple of weeks

i think the first priority off the ship is to first test its systems like they do with all navy vessals, landing and recovering aircraft is like asking someone to run before they can walk
yes its a carrier and launching aircraft is its primary mission but give it a chance to grow, its only 2nd sea trial they probably havnt even tested the systems on it yet and we are talking of touch and gos
Well, no cables were seen on deck when she left. We shall just have to see.
If they are going to use their 3-4 J-15s in this manner at this stage I would be very surprised. As I said before, there is a lot more basic stuff to test yet. More power to them if they can and I will look forward to the pics if they do.
As to exagerate...no doubt. He's acting more like a PR rep than a naval analyst though.
If they do some touch and goes...or even some traps (which I still doubt highly) then I look forward to seeing the pics of it happening. That will be a big step forward for the PLAN and will send a strong message about their carrier progress.
Nice pics...wish we had high res of those.

"Without Organic Airpower at Sea (Aircraft Carriers), you don't have a Navy, You have a Coast Guard!"
You're correct! I wish you read Chinese Obi, the title does translate "Ulyanovsk".
人生得意需盡歡,莫舉金尊空對月
I think ultimately they will...but I also believe that the next carrier...the 1st indegenous carrier, will be a lot like the Varyag. It will give them more experience at that level and will give them something to work with from a maintenance and operational standpoint to allow them to better utilize this level of technology.
Then I expect that after that they may try to move forward with some innovation...perhaps two waist cats and other changes to the initial design...probably ending up with a couple of those too. Nuclear power may wait longer, IMHO, we shall just have to wait and see.

I'd love to be able to read chinese, as it is my grasp of foreign languages is limited to being able to swear in German and insult people in French!
