A giant white circle is painted onto the deck of Varyag to indicate the ideal spot for the wheels to touch the deck. So, if there is a landing, the skid marks would be very noticeable.

I agree, even one carrier landing would mark the deck very distinctly, a carrier landing is performed with the aircraft in a very high sink rate, and is performed to hit the spot, not the standard AF arrival where the objective is to lightly roll the wheels. Even my old man used to talk about the Navy guys and their "arrivals", not pretty affairs, and honestly hard on airframes, especially landing gear and wing attach points, and into full burner in case you miss the wires and have a "bolter". If someone where to attempt to land on a carrier, using a typical AF style approach and landing it "ain't gonna happen", you want that baby to be "done" flying when you trap it, believe me when I say it takes very superior "airmanship" to qualify.
A carrier landing is an approach without round up and flare: *short animation*
An airliner landing has a round up and uses the struts for degradation of energie: *short animation*
In a lighttype aircraft you perform a round up and a long flare until stall speed is reached one inch high over the runway: *short animation*

It's safe to say, there is no touch and go yet ... perhaps in July or Aug 12
The lack of evidence is the best evidence that it is most likely that there have not been any.
I think they will wait until they have more aircraft...once they are comfortable with the J-15s and feel they have enough of them, they will probably (like the US did recently with the F-35B on the Wasp class vessel) fly a couple out during trials and test and qualify the aircraft itself for working on the carrier.
I expect when that happens we will know it. IMHO, despite the PRC's tight lipped policies...that is something so noteworthy that they will want to crow about it and show the world.
But we shall see. Time will tell.
interesting vid regarding to J-15 and the carrier. let me know if translation is needed.

My question is about the clearing of the sea around Xingcheng where the J-15 naval aviation training base is. Has that been done before ? If it's a new event then certainly something is going to happen. I doubt the ex-Varyag will have Flankers on her deck when she returns to Dalian. After the Flankers have done there landing and take off practises they will simply return to Xingcheng.
I think, there is flight operation in combination with the carrier from the first trial on. At least in the manner you would train together with any other warship like an air defence destroyer or something else.
I think, there are calibration flights for the instrument landing system, surveillance radar and any other electronic system.
one thing i love about USN is seeing those carriers packed out with fighters next to each other, looks a awesome display of firepower, one of these is appearing off the coast of a country is enough to buckle it at its knees
maybe one day we will see similar for China, the Varyag packed out with J15s and escorts like Type 052C and Type 054A and a SSN
could we expect a J15 landing on a USN carrier? or a F35 landing on a Chinese carrier during a excersie? a far fetched idea but one that would be good for both nations
a Indian helo recently landed on a USN Carrier in recent joint excersies
As long as peace is maintained we may someday see joint carrier exercises between the US and PRC.could we expect a J15 landing on a USN carrier? or a F35 landing on a Chinese carrier during a excersie? a far fetched idea but one that would be good for both nations
When the Royal Navy was operating full fledged CVs there were many joint CV ops between the USN & RN. French Navy aircraft have operated from USN CVNs a few years ago. Right click and select view image for a larger view.

there is not necessarily a definative a answer to these questions, it was more of a thought, and if one allows then its only professional trust and mutual understanding for the other navy to return thr favour
both China and US is powerful nations, with resources, one is not over the other, both can work together in these times when international shipping is rising at a very fast pace to provide security and stability in the world
both Navys can compliment each other, friendly competition is always good competition
