Do I see what appears to be CWIS on the island(tower)?? I see some deffinate things that appear to be going on there...Very interesting. Maybe some more pics will leak out soon!

In order to protect sealanes that are vital for China's survival, especially transportation of resources such as fuel and petroleum and trade for economical development, China needs aircraft carrier. If the PLA is serious, they should be able to do it, just like the Atomic and Nuclear Bombs, Satelite and manned spacecraft. China has one of the highest foreign reserves, has the technical knowhow and just need a will to do this. and this is not to be a superpower but to be able to protect sealanes for trade. Even a small country like Thailand has aircraft carrier.
You guys see two lumps atop of the bridges and then automaticly thing they are radars?? Hold your horses, my dear friends so far as yuo look them critically, they migth be photoshopped to the pic that has so sloppy resolution that even I could do it....
all the mast are covered by the cranes so I have to raise my hat to migleaders ability to see trough hard steel![]()
Sofar there havent been any scaffolds around the bridge, whitout them its pretty hard to do anything.
Ooh, your custard pie, yeah, sweet and nice

Yea Gollywe are all seeing things. but honestly It looks diffrent too me.. You are right about that pic. The resolution is poor. Like I said maybe some new pics will slip out of the PRC.
I still don't see the markings on the flight deck Miggy. Usally(and I know the PLAN is not the USN) the flight deck markings are the last thing completed after a major re-fit.

Well, the zinc cromate non-skid coating has been covered over from the earlier picture from, what? March? They have made that progress. Other than that, unless things are going on internally (which we will not see) I too don't see a lot of differences.Originally Posted by bd popeye

PSed or real scale model for testing something???

Theres, an easy way to verify. If we can find another picture of the ship form the exact same angle and quality, than its probably PS. If not, that does not mean it is not a PS, but it is less likely to be one.
I would say PS ... .... That plane on the deck is in primer. Something I would think unlikely. I could be wrong, but I just do see them using an plane in primer!!
After some blown-up analysis, I the aircraft bears a resemblance the the eurofighter. It certainly isnt a j-10. It also could be an l-15. The top of this aircrafts rear fin is black, and so is the top of the l-15s fin. Limited resemblence to an su-27 exists.
I thought measuring the length propotions could prove the photo a fake but I cannot say so from the result i got. From that angle I am getting the ratio of the lengths of aircraft:ship = 31/493 = 0.063. From Wikipedia, Varyag = 300m and J-10 = 14.57. That ratio = 0.048. Now that I could not locate the beginning and end of the aircraft correctly from that photo, the ratios are not that far out.

Somehow swimmerXC, MIGleader, myself and however created the fake, we are the in same bracket - i.e. no lives!
It is frustrating to be disinformed! Thanks swimmerXC
Excellent break down of the pics swimmer! Excellent! I saw that same pic at;

I thought it looked like the same old Varyag pic we've been staring at for over a year...I assumed it was "PS" from the start.
If the pic were true why would the PLAN lift a aircraft on an Cv during a major re-fit? They could do the same expermints with a model..
The next thing we will see "PSed" on that ship is radars and a mast...
