wang cheng. a charactor from the movie "ying xiong er nv". the movie built up a war hero figure, wang cheng, a soldier in the chinese volunteer army. After his whole unit was destroyed, he directed artillery fire upon the hill with him and the enemy. his famous line "fire at me", became one of the most heroic speech in the next 50 years. another non forgottenable thing from the movie is the movie song.
speaking of heroic words from movies. a new chinese tv series "liang jian" also has one. in the series, during sino japanese war, a cavalry company was surrounded by the japanese cavalry troop. and they charged into the japanese once by once, until the last man. this tv series gave out another famous line " cavalry, charge!"

seruoisly, a torrent tread would be so great. Some of us who left China many years ago, we do need a refresher course on the chinese perspective of history.

if you guys read Chinese, there is this popular tv-software, "PPlive", you can use. One of the channels has this kind of movie 24-7.
This is my favorite movie, and the song is great too. It is all very famous. Wait didnt wang cheng, like carry a bazooka and charged it at the enemy or something?! Anyways it is a great movie especially the combat and anti-air shooting.
Was Wang Cheng fighting the Japanese, the Nationalists, the Vietnamese or the Americans in Korea?
Battles are won by slaughter and maneuver. The greater the general, the more he contributes in maneuver, the less he demands in slaughter.

Where can you buy these movies?
The guy was actually fighting the Americans in the Korean war. His troops were lost and instead of running away, he self destructed a bazooka on the incoming US infantry regiment killing himself and the army. You can find these movies at China or a chinese electronic store in China town or somethin.Originally Posted by Finn McCool

Yeah, it figures that they would have picked a guy who fought the Americans to make a movie about during that period. "Fight the evil capatilist American imperialists!" (Adoring crowd waves their Little Red Books and Chinese Flags)Originally Posted by renmin

Oh please, China wasn't pissed at Tae Ku Gi or Pork Chop Hill movies, nor was Japan pissed at Pear Harbor movies, nor was etc.... And the movie shown is an extremely old one. I don't believe China made any recent videos on fighting Americans, probably because they want to attract the American audience. Same vice versa.
ha, i watched that movie a long time ago. the only thing i remembers is that the movie focuses more on the result and influence of his death rather than the death himself. He died fairly early in the movie and the rest of the movie is about how his daughter (i think...) speak of him through her songs. And his daughter went around to various corps to sing the song about his father's heroic action.
i used to have a lot more movies like that, too bad i left all of them in china.
and i haven't watched the other movie Red Guard mentioned, what's the chinese name for it? (in chinese plz)
