Healthy is the optimised choise

I wonder how it would have changed Chinese history and culture if the Chinese had used as guidelines the two rules "It is good to cultivate good health in everything." and "It is stupid to break needlessly."? These should provide the optimised choise, easy for all men to understand and apply, still completely correct and a view which fits together many different sides of life.
