Do you think China would have been better off had KMT defeated the CCP?
Had Mao never won there would be no great leap forward, no cultural revolution. Human rights and political reform are not guaranteed though as Chiang Kai Shek was a Fascist and most likely would have had a totalitarian rule. However had Mao not won would KMT China still develop a nuclear bomb since it would most likely be under the US nuclear umbrella, and Tibet may have not be invaded and may have remained independence. However there would likely be no Western arms embargo.
