Re: What is your kind of food?

Is that bread..... the fried Russian bread? Correct me if I am wrong though. But yeah, you can find that kind of bread in here. As for the sausage-bread, I'd think it's still regarded as a hamburger in here.

Kiosk? That word sounds familiar....... What commercial product in here was named that again?

I actually like Taco Bell......Then again, I like Latino food......
But I'll take Popeyes over KFC anyday. KFC's chicken is too salty and toooooooooooooooooo fat. (But HK's Hardee's is probably the oilesy chicken. Hong Kong members, you know what I mean right? I might have gotten the wrong spelling.)

But Fast food Fried Rice? :x Oh, hail' no!
Fried rice in fast food store is never right! They taste like raw rice cooked in a pan w/ a cup of oil. It doesn't have texture or taste! More like Tasteless seeds w/ oil....... I am sure Panda Express will help you understand what I mean. (Real fried rice are made from steamed rice, not raw rice......)
Chow Mein/Fried noodle is better in some places, but some stores dump whatever vegetable they can find into the noodles and that aren't very nice either..........

But School meal..... I am sure you guys have better school lunch than me......
In our beanery line (Don't know why it's called that, but that's where you buy better food if you didn't qualify for free meals. The materials for chow mein and fried rice are from left over meat and stuff. The rice is raw, and you can still see like 2 tsp of oil at the bottom.) The hot meal line is worst..........Food is just slapped into instant containers that will stick 2 da food after being heated. Whether or not the food is healthy (oil and salt) or arranged properly (like the corners of a pizza sticking out.) is not their business....

Re: What is your kind of food?

Panda Express, like MOST places, do use steamed rice to make fried rice. I would know, I........had the pleasure of working at one during the summer of my freshman year. Interesting thing is, all the chefs at P.E are Mexicans.

Re: What is your kind of food?

Love the following:

1. Pizza - Pizzeria Uno's (Cupertino, CA)
2. Chinese - Mandarin Gourmet (SF Bay Area, CA)
3. Indian - Bombay Oven (Cupertino, CA)
4. Steaks - Tahoe Joe's or Cattleman's (Sacramento, CA)
5. Burgers - Fuddruckers (All over the USA)
6. Japanese - Asahi Sushi (El Dorado Hills, CA)
7. Vietnamese (Pho Nam, Sunnyvale, CA)
8. Southern (Uncle Bud's Catfish, Knoxville, TN)
9. Mexican - Chevy's (Justaboutanywhere, USA)

I like it all. From Curry, to Enchiladas, to Burgers, to Roast Duck in Plum Sauce, to Sushi, to Kung Pao. I ain't picky.

Hey Sumdud, if you live in the Bay Area, have you ever heard of Mr. Chau's Chinese Food? Similar to Panda Express...only better. I used to chow down there all the time when I lived there myself (San Jose).

Re: What is your kind of food?

Swdish meatballs? Saw it before (at Ikea), but donno what's so special about it (no offense.) Special spices?
But I finally got the taste of Kristall there after living for 12 years without it.

Mr. Chau's Chinese food? Nope, haven't found it yet. But I do like what they serve in Ranch 99 though........

Pho..... I like Pho Hoa. (But then again, there are many of them, not in a chain, named Pho Hoa. And even if you are naming just chains, there are two Pho Hoa......) There are some store up in Chinatown that are kind of good too.

Haven't been to any Indian Restaurants in SF bay yet, except for a fast food store. There are some in Downtown and many in and around the South Bay though.

When I am having a burrito, I am usually buying it from some independent Taqueria. So nope, never been inside Chevy's or Cielia's.

if you live in the bay area then Mr. Chau's shouldent be hard to find search Sna Jose area

their food is not what you would regard as true chinese food I would rate ranch 99 skightly above it

Over all this chinese resturents in the Bay area arent as good as they area in Vancour the few good restyrents here are too expansive

Re: What is your kind of food?

I live in San Francisco, and since my parents hate San Jose's dry weather, we rarely go there. (In my 7 years here, I've only been to Little Saigon(I think that's what they call the district.), a Casino, a mall, and a fleamarket there.)

But the case about Chinese food in SF is true.
Yea, lots of Chinese restaurants here are operated by either people who are from China but can't cook, or people who can cook but they know Chinese (cooking) or just some cheap people who wants to get rid of oil. In either case, you end up with half-Chinese foods or (like in Chinatown) too freakin much quantity with too little quality. Seeing celery in chow mein outside Chinatown is commonplace, and in all scenarios, with lots of oil.

I can point you to some real Chinese food in San Jose and Millbrae though. But they do cost you.

Re: What is your kind of food?

If you want to check the estimated mercury levels in seafood, see here:
http://gotmercury.org/

Keep in mind that these are US-FDA released stats and may not reflect your local area.

Generally speaking, bottom-dwelling or bottom-feeding fish like Habibut and White Croakers have higher Mercury/PCB levels.

As for pho, the best ones are almost always home cooked. The taste is heavily dependent on the soup, which takes all day to cook (the old way).

Re: What is your kind of food?

I love Italian food. My favorite is the pasta that one of my friends' mom makes. It is amazing, even though they are not Italian. I also like BBQ and steak a lot. And of course, Chinese cuisines is pretty high up on my list, especially Shanghainese.

My three favourite foods are fish and chips, Chinese and pizza. Or just a good old Subway sandwich, baguette that is.
