I've done it only once during the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. I'm not a Le Ann "Grimes" fan, more like Kerry Underwood and Taylor Swift type (they're both so gorgeous). NO I DON'T ride a horse to work...LOL! Houston is actually more of a hip hop and rap (3rd coast) type of music. For a more diversity of music in Texas ya have to head out to Austin (about 3 hours drive north west of Houston).

Cool!! I like Dallas alot. I got two cousins living in Dallas and we would go to Dallas couple times a year to visit them.

However, I hate the Cowboys, man (love their cheerleaders though)! My cousins are huge Cowboys fans. I'm a Texans fan! 2:0 baby!!

Also most of my cousins are Longhorns, so on every Thanksgiving day, we would watch the Texas vs. Texas A&M game together and having fun trash-talking to each other. Too bad, A&M is moving to the SEC... The Big 12 is a a lot more fun...

well, most people don't know, the Governor of Texas have less powers and responsibilities than his Lieutenant Governor and the State budget comptroller. Rick Perry is more like emperor of Japan than any thing else.

He was more powerful back then when he was the agriculture commissioner of Texas, IMHO.

The best way to describe Rick is... a Republican. Which most of us Texans are, And he is an Aggie.
But, most Texans will get more interested in him, if he makes through the Republican Primary.
Yes, he used to be my dad's boss (since my dad used to work at TDA) and a fellow Aggie. So I support him.
But 100% agreed on that Texas governors are weak...

I have a love-and-hate thing going on with that show. I love the show because it's a lot of fun. I hate it because I live close to the Reliant Center and the traffic becomes soooo bad during the 2-3 weeks of the show that it would take me almost an hour just to get out onto the innerloop, which normally takes me 5 minutes...

I think Houston has a lot of country and Latino music. Since Hispanics is now the minority majority in Houston, their music is now very popular.

That's funny, my brother lives in Dallas and he's a big time Cowboys fan. Every year my brother and I would have our annual bets(anything from money, food, doing favors) whenever Dallas plays against the Washington Redskins.

I know it sad to see the Big 12 gets broken up like that. All because UT wants their own Longhorns Network just like Notre Dame has a deal with NBC. In the long run it might be good for college football for the state of Texas because that way Texas has at least a major university team representing all the major conferences like Pac 10, Big 10, SEC, ACC, and Big EAST.

I actually don't care too much about the cowboys. They been doing a lot disappointing things with huge amount of money wasted since the 2008 seasons in my opinion. I do have to agree about the cheerleaders.
I have been a Maverick fan for years. I am really disappointed there will not be a season this year.

Btw I think we made this "your academia" thread into a Texans reunion. Way off topic haha!

I hate the Cowboys from top to bottom all the way from Jerry Jones to Tony Romo. I too love the Maves though. I am happy for Dirt. In my mind, he is everything an MVP should be. I wish they can do it again in the near future. However, I honestly doubt they could because of their age...

guess we got a little carried away with the Texas stuff... The nation of Texas is always charismatic...

BTW, the things we talk about are the normal stuff being discussed in college dorms and are also the things that college students care most about. So in that sense, we are still talking about academia

I hope that Texans don't do what they did last year when they won 2 games in a roll to start the season and ended up having a losing season (2-8 to end the season is kind of pathetic).

I hope so too. Knowing the Texans loves to play the what I like to call Prevent Offense (Opposite of Prevent Defense scheme with the offense doing it instead) towards the 4th quarter instead of keeping the pressure on by scoring and controlling the momentum of the game.

On top of that, they get Schaub who is a good QB, but not a franchise player whom they can depend on to win games.
