    Cool Pakistan

It seems to me that Pakistan and Burma are becoming increasingly important allies for China that help to secure much of their access Africa and the Indian Ocean. India has a rather mixed attitude towards China and Indio-Russian cooperation in many fields can be seen as a balance against China, while Russo-Chinese cooperation helps to foster counter-pressure to American exercise of power. Indo-Chinese cooperation seems to be rather lacking on external security relevant issues.

In this context the Shouting the Mirror article about the limited differences between Indians and Pakistanis and their very warlike attitudes made me wonder, what are the implications of the Indo-Pakistani conflict for China and how does China perceive it?

From my point of view it's an ongoing civil war in South Asia and all participants would be better off forming a free trade alliance because there's really little to conflict about. China could do a major contribution as increased development in her south would bolster economic growth at home with South Asia having the chance to become a major expanding importer for Chinese products. I know, that's very European.

    Re: Pakistan

From a practical and prudent point of view, there are certain things that China and it's allies would like to see, done. The political, social and economic stability and growth of China and it's allies. Establishing networked cooperation between China and it's allies, whereby external threats that might infiltrate to destabilize the countries, are systematically and comprehensively, eliminated. Ensuring stable, patriotic, loyal and dedicated governments in power, for the countries who're allies of China.

What China and its allies would also want, is the gradual and specific ouster of Western presence in Afghanistan and the Central Asian Republics. Also, the establishment of strong inter-trade ties between China, Russia, Central Asian Republics, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Burma, Venezuela and Argentina. Economic growth between these countries, should be aimed in a manner, whereby the dependency on the West for trade, is to an extent (if not significantly) eroded/diminished.

These are the things that Russia, China and Pakistan should be focusing on achieving. Because if war is to erupt, in current circumstances, would be detrimental for all parties concerned. Plus, we should not forget, China needs to achieve the return of province of Taiwan, back into it's Union. Hence, its the time for consolidating gains, rectifying security deficiencies, stabilizing political leadership of China's allies and eliminating Western meddling in countries allied to China.

    Re: Pakistan

depends on the severity and the case of the hypothetical conflict, though i suspect China will be more neutral than anyone would have expected
Dizasta1 summed up nicely what should be done/pursued by China and her allies outside a hard conflict

regarding Burma/Myanmar, they have been flirting with the West lately as they implemented political reforms, time will tell should we see more drift towards openness and acceptance of Western power influence into Burmese politics and relations with China

its a game that everyone plays, including Pakistan in the past and as of now
