Although i do miss big screen theatres, i find the smaller ones common today are more convinient. Feels good to be 1 of the only 5 people in the room, very little distraction

most theatres in the cities in china are still big ones that sits 1000 people.

Beware of fake IMAX screens. The only time I experience "IMAX" was when I was a kid at one of the local amusement & thrill ride parks. I believe it was the same company at its infancy. That was a huge screen. It was so big that when it showed a guy hang gliding over the Grand Canyon, you felt it as if you were there. The only other time I got that experience was watching The Empire Strikes Back at the biggest screen around in a local area theater. Felt queezy when that snow speeder was gliding over the snowy landscape. Now IMAX has licensed theaters to use their name as a standard. Never been to an IMAX theater since I was a kid. Then saw Watchmen and Star Trek in supposedly IMAX theatres. The screen wasn't any bigger than normal. Yeah the sound was slightly better but I watched Terminator: Salvation on a regular screen and the sound hurt my ears. When Jurassic Park came out, I saw that at an old time big theater that was renovated. When that T-Rex roared, you can see everyone slapping their hands over their ears just like the characters on the screen. There was an article recently accusing IMAX of giving license to theatre chains that aren't really showing IMAX so they're charging people extra for the IMAX experience when it's not.

I just read the Red Dawn remake has gone through a rewrite. Before the Russians were suppose to play a background supporting role. Now it sounds like it's going to be a joint Russian/Chinese invasion.

why don't they make it russia plus china plus mexico plus everyone else that the neo-cons don't like? i mean at this point, militarily, there's just no way for any force -- even a combined russian/chinese force -- to launch a successful amphibious invasion.

bring mexico in so that the russian and chinese land force can have a foothold.

They might. But then it just sounds like the old movie again. They had an Oscar nominated writer do the rewrite so maybe it'll be more intellectual.

oh, and they can bring the gays in too. how's this for a sub-plot -- gays in america were acting as spies and collaborators for the invading forces cuz they want to over-throw the gay-bashing administration.

while we're at it, let's bring in the japanese and koreans cuz they wanna destroy america's industrial basis so that they can sell more cars.

we shall call this movie -- Red Dawn II: The Gaysian Invasion

I think they used CGI to enhance the gore and Blood of Frank Castle handy work.

Today we had a teacher only day at school and all my friends went to see Transformers (I didn't for some reason), and right now on msn and facebook are like "OMG transformers is freaking awesome".

Has anyone here seen it yet and have some opinions? I've read a couple of reviews and they all say it's a bit overdone.

Transformers 2 is awesome. Lots of GM and US military advertising though.

I'm watching it tomorrow in IMAX which has extended actions scenes. It's been getting a lot of bad reviews. Amazingly the bad reviews all have one criticism in common and is starting some controversy in the US. As one of reviewers coined the term... Car Car Binks. Some are wondering how Steven Spielberg could attach his name to this movie knowing what his friend George Lucas went through. I'll see for myself tomorrow. I heard the last two hours is robots beating each other up.
