BTW, I hate it when they portray nerds in the so-typically stereotypical fashion. No nerds in the real world talk, dress and behave in the way that was shown on the show (at least not me and and those that I know and I know a lot of them).

Just saw 2012. IMHO it's probably the best disaster movie I've seen in a good number of years, better than The day after tomorrow at least.
Special effects were a bit shaky in areas, and there is the unrealistic "explosions around protagonists but they don't get killed" thing...
But overall it's a fantastic film. Got good comedy, good special effects, likable characters, some gut wrenching moments... Pretty awesome movie.

The Raj character isnt so bad, infact he's pretty normal.

By the way have you ever read the Book "The Ugly Chinaman" by Bo Yang?.

He has a thing to say about Chinese intellectuals.

Man! you should go see the clips on Yahoo. They got some amazing CGIs, like the entire Yellowstone becoming a supervolcano. that's something I've got to see!

    2012 on Yahoo! Movies

About the book, I've never seen it (literally, not only never read it, but never seen the actual book). I think back in the 80's and 90's, Chinese people had such a low self-esteem (I guess from the shock on how far they'd fallen behind), a number of Chinese authors actually got famous for blasting Chinese people and culture. According to them, nothing and absolutely nothing about Chinese (language, food, clothes, religion, history... you name it) is good. They claimed that we Chinese are genetically inferior and culturally backward and that we are destined to fail anything and everything we try. I mean it's one thing to be self-critical and down-to-earth about ourselves, but blasting, or more like humiliating, your own culture like that? that's just too much...

If we're going to talk about tv shows, I have to declare that I am a huge fan of the Stargate franchise, Top Gear (who isn't?), Smallville (superman! ), and probably a few other dramas like House and such.
But Stargate owns all of them!

I made a post a page or two before on 2012, fantastic movie, second best this year imho - behind district 9.

And lol are you joking about New Moon? I'm not sure how many people on a military forum will go watch a film aimed at teenage girls... But I myself may watch it eventually because I'm a fan of the Twilight books but the movies are not very impressive.

Is anyone here actually planning on watching New Moon... voluntarily?

what do you think about the movie, compared to the 1st one? We've been waiting a long time for the movie to come out.
