Re: Mobile phone recommendations.

I had a decent sony phone, but it got busted up so had to buy a cheap cell until I decide what phone to get. Nokia 5800 or any smart phone with atleast wifi is what I need, an HTC phone would be nice, but here in Taiwan they are only in chinese, and well, my chinese is pretty spotty.

Re: Mobile phone recommendations.

Didn't read if anyone talked about the LG Shine, but I woke up today and found my phone useless. For the past few month, my LG Shine would just turn off by itself. This morning I could only make a call to my home phone. I am going to the ATT store to get it replaced. Apparently this LG Shine is actually really bad. DO NOT GET IT!

Re: Mobile phone recommendations.

LG Shine sucks. Mine still works, but after having so many dropped calls, I replaced it. I would suggest sticking to Nokia next time for the low to mid end.

Re: Mobile phone recommendations.

Apparently the ATT noobs think it is my battery that is screwing up. I am going to get a new phone from them in November even if my phone is fine, this way I can abuse my warranty.

Using Skype alongside cell phones

I was wondering how many forum members use Skype and how do you find it?
I heard that with the Iphone and the Androids one can access Skype.,thus making it cheaper for international calls etc, but personally I dont go out of the way to use cell phones to make mobile calls. Some people claim that there is increasing evidence between brain tumors and heavy cell phone for voice calls usage.
It appears we are at the stage like cigarette smoking was at in the 50's on on whether cell phones usage causes cancer.

bladerunner..please use this thread to discuss any type of cell phone usage.

Re: Using Skype alongside cell phones

I used Skype early on for some conference calls. That was audio. Never tried video. I thought the audio part was great. Haven't used it in a while and I know it's gone though some evolution since then. Ebay just sold it at a large loss. So apparently what they wanted to use it for didn't pan out.

Re: Mobile phone recommendations.

Its coming soon now. The T-Mobile Pulse made by Huawei, powered by Google Android. First Huawei I've seen with a major carrier, first Huawei Android as well.

T-Mobile introduces first pay-as-you-go Android smartphone, dubbed Pulse

One hell of a good looking device.

Re: Mobile phone recommendations.

I'm paranoid of skype. The program uses encrypted packets, even when not actively communicating with a partner. Its traffic is difficult to analyze and there's no way of knowing it is not a backdoor. The program's code is heavily encrypted, to make it difficult to see what the program is actually doing. Its communication encryption is proprietary, so you have no way of knowing whether it is secure. Experts have analyzed its messaging system and found weaknesses which could be exploited to take over the client, at least on past versions. The analysis of the cryptography shows that Skype headquarters can eavesdrop on any Skype communication. After reading this, I removed skype.

Actually when in China (anywhere in China) I tends to forget about buying the 'real' thing. I am bend on buying Chinese brand iphone look alike or some strange looking mobile that promises u the world. They really work quite well... but prepare to throw them away after perhaps one year of usage.

Anyway, I just bought a HTC Nexus 1 from the net, boasted to be the fastest phone around... quite cool and pretty little gadget.

Re: Mobile phone recommendations.

I have a blackberry 8900 unlocked and plan on buying the new blackberry 9700 soon!

Both are great phones, I mainly use it for email and SMS. The video and picture camera is very handy, good quality.

actually we can for electronic stuffs like mobile phone and MP3 players, for handbags and stuffs like that, then I am lost. They might look kind of alike, but there are still differences, like the bite on the apple was on the wrong side, or there was no bites at all... the mobile phones had features that real one don't have, some have difference sized screen or different size althogether. I even saw a 'Nokia' phone that was not even in the product range of Nokia and found a phone that actually had the brand of 'Nolia'.

Hack... I was in Guangzhou once, and bought a PSP which was actually a cheap immitation of what was the real PSP for less than 300yuan. It had internal memories, plays old games and even had a built-in camera (2MP).
