I haven't watched any anime in a long time, but in my mind, the best anime series ever produced would always be Evangelion.

I'm not sure if Pokemon counts as anime, but if it does... then I was a huge fan of it back in the early 2000's.
Dragonball Z, Zoids, Yu gi oh were all past times when I used to enjoy anime

All these are tv shows, not comics though.

I've been quite a fan for a while now, though i've given up on mainstream titles and am now more interested in seinen series like Texhnolyze.

It's all about Dragonball Z and Cowboy Bebop

Interesting. What do you do to enter the industry?

Yes they're are more than you realize I know for a fact Crobato likes anime ^^. I'm sure he can offer us some 'expert' opinions and knowledge like he does with everything else lol.

I am a bit of an Otaku, aside from the mainstream animes (jsut watch for fight scences lol) like Naruto/Bleach/One Piece/DBZ, I do like to read/watch when I'm rly bored.

Some good series I recommend to read/watch aside from the well knowns are Monster (and 20th century boys if u like monster), Azumanga Daioh, Berserk, Welcome to NHK, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Kenshin OVA: Trust & Betrayal, Visions of Escaflowne, Death Note (manga preferable), and etc.

90s had the best animes Escaflowne, Bebop, Trigun, Outlaw Star, Kenshin, Evangelion imo. then again that was when I was rly into it.
P.S. One thing I found amusing is the increasing numbers of "chinese" main characters and increasingly diminished roles of Japan (particularly in modern of futuristic settings).

Entering the animation industry in China is quite tough especially for foreigner. I have been attending animationa and video games related events this past few months. So far has made a few solid contact, but far from enough to be fully involved in the industry. I have a science and business background. They do not seem to be able to use MBA students from top MBA school due to high cost, therefore i am still largely ignored by the main industry player. My only route in is to set up an independent company with industry veteran after i have solidified my network. Animation industry people are more friendly here compared to video games people that is quite hostile to outsiders.

Yes, loved Black Lagoon. Note how the Taiwanese lady Shenhua, the one with the flying daggers, called Reby, the main heroine with the gutter mouth, short shorts and twin Desert Eagles, "Twinkie" while Reby calls Shenhua "Chinglish" for her bad English accents. Twinkie is in reference to Chinese Americans, "yellow outside, white inside". I also like the El Mariachi references, like gatling guns inside guitar cases.

    Re: Japanese anime thread

A fan of Seinen myself, Black Lagoon was an excellent series and hope to see the third season soon, Ghost in the Shell has also been quite a successful franchise and also hope to see a third season of that too.

But honestly i'm curious if anyone's been into more obscure titles like Lain, Boogiepop Phantom and Paranoia Agent.
