Any ideas about the open door between and above the engines. I could be way off but could it be an optical sensor?
This is a discussion on J-20... The New Generation Fighter within the Members' Club Room forums, part of the China Defense & Military category; Delta wings don't seem to be at 90 degrees....

I think that these last pics, and especially the one from the rear, support my observation about the engines not being as well intergrated into the airframe as the F-22 and the T-50.
It's only an observation!
So, any guesses as to what is powering this giant?
I don't think it's real. These are obviously models shot from a distance.
I demand to see Barak Obama sitting in the pilot's seat with Hu Jintao opening the canopy from the outside. This must be all be video taped with Obama touching the plane while making a statement claiming that this plane is operational.

The rear engine layout does suggest -to me- that some design elements could be influenced by the Mig 1.42/1.44.
Just an observation!!!
Precisely! Similar to many other 3rd, 4th, and 4.5th generation twin engine aircraft, and NOT similar to 5th generation (using western nomenclature, that is).
I guess I just expected that the airframe would taper toward the rear as the F-22 and T-50 do.
It doesn't! So, I'll stop riding a dead horse.

I am very interested in seeing the top view of this plane. I'm really expecting that to illustrate more influences of the Mig 1.42/1.44.
