I remembered a story my uncle who were living in Hong Kong at the time (around 1980s) told me a about the Dun Chinese who lives in boats (like houses, some are even two story) for most of their lives. The some of the children there would be afraid to step on land whenever he tries convince them to come out and play. One must wonder how do these people go for groceries, gas for the house boats and stuff, well they can purchased most of their needs through river markets all across Southeast Asia, like in Vietnam, Cambodia, and even neighboring Hainan island. It's quite a wonder they live in such a unique lifestyle.
I've read about them. Apparently their ancestors were prisoners/outcasts or banished people who are not welcomed anywhere. In the long term they become drifters on water.
