Nearly a thousand Chinese descendents in New York staged a protest outside the UN headquarters in the city on Wednesday morning to demonstrate against Japanese prime minister’s address at the General Assembly.

During his address to the UN General Assembly, Japanese PM Yoshihiko Noda called for “resolving territory conflicts peacefully in accordance with international law”.

China and Japan have been locked in an intense island row recently all triggered by Noda administration’s “nationalization” of the Diaoyu Islands.

Protesters shouted and held banners reading “Diaoyu Islands, Chinese land,””Diaoyu Islands belong to China”.
