We are supposed to get about 35 inches of precipitation a year. We get about 3 feet of snow a year . I don't know how that is converted into measurable precipitation.

You buy your water? Humm????..In southern California many people buy drinking water for cooking because the tap water has a taste of minerals. Not here in Iowa.

No one collect roof water or rain water that I'm aware of. I've never heard of such a thing. Most folks in rural areas use well water.

I pray not..We had a severe flood here in 2008. It was called the 500 year flood. It was the second largest natural disaster in terms of property damage in the history of the US. Only one death.

This photo taken on August 2, 2012 shows HIV carrier Liu Ximei (L) holding a dog as her friend Tao Jing Lan (back), also HIV positive, sleeps on a bed in the stray dog kennel they helped to look after, during a visit to Beijing. Ximei contracted the HIV virus after blood sellers at a rural hospital injected her with a used needle following a severe accident as a young girl in which her hair was caught in farm machinery, tearing away her scalp. Ostracised in the worlds most populous country, a lack of HIV and AIDS education means patients are routinely shunned by a fearful society; which for Ximei meant being forced from the home she shared with her brother. Originally from Henan province, Ximei was visiting three HIV hospitals in Beijing in the hope of finding a surgeon able to restore hair to her damaged scalp, which she hides beneath a wig. She cites a lack of appropriate equipment and surgeons afraid of infection as reasons given to her by the doctors she has visited. Abandoned at birth, Ximei has been consumed by this quest ever since reading a book in which it was said that 'hair is the second life of a woman'.
