    China's youngest female commercial pilot:

Wang Zheng, China’s Prettiest Young Female Pilot [Pictures] – Viewology.Net

Meet Wang Zheng, she is being hailed as China’s prettiest young female captain!

While still a few months shy of 29 years old, Wang Zheng is the youngest female captain of Chinese national carrier Air China.

Initially majoring in electronic information science and technology, Miss Wang enrolled herself to be a female pilot when she was a sophomore in Chinese Civil Aviation University.

Wang entered Air China in 2005, and began flying as in-flight officer in October 2006. She was eventually promoted to be a captain in July 2010, becoming the only female captain of Air China.

Wang Zheng currently flies Airbus A321 passenger jet.

You can found more details about this girl from this report.

Some Chinese internet male users are being charmed by Wang Zheng’s beauty and thinking high of her choice of pilot as her profession.

“Would you like to be my wifey? I’d like to do cookings and washings everyday for you.” bantered one.

“Women are not inferior to men. Though piloting a plane is usually a job for men, women can do this business as well because in terms of carefulness men are not as competent as women. We guys must feel proud for her, and should never look down those female pilots,” another commented.

Worker recalls horror in Libya - China News - SINA English

After a week of harrowing experiences in Libya, Dong Shubao landed safely in Shanghai Thursday afternoon, swearing he would never return to the troubled North African nation.

Having been working for more than five months in Tubruq, a city some 170 kilometers from the Libyan border with Egypt, the 44-year-old worker from Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, never imagined he would be faced with armed gangsters running amok.

Dong was among 30,000 Chinese nationals who worked in Libya. More than 4,200 Chinese arrived safely Thursday in the Greek port of Heraklion after being evacuated.

"We stopped working at our construction site February 17th after receiving information about the unrest, but we never thought bandits would rob us," Dong recalled.

"Around 20 armed men came to our construction site Saturday evening and began ransacking it. Concerned for our safety, our boss told us not to fight back and to give them anything they wanted," said Dong, who, along with his coworkers, was sent packing with nothing but his clothes.

After the attack, the Chinese embassy in Libya arranged seven vehicles for them and drove the workers to Tripoli.

"We stayed in hotels for two days there before being sent to Egypt. I could hear gunshots every night. It was so terrifying that I do not want to return to that country anymore," Dong said.

"It feels really good to be home. Compared with those who are still in Libya waiting for evacuation, I'm really lucky because I heard the situation there is getting worse and worse," Dong added.

Media reports point to Dong being right, as Libya seemed to be plunging toward open civil war with protesters marching on the capital.

According to Reuters, forces loyal to Colonel Muammar Gaddafi launched a counterattack Thursday, fighting fierce gun battles with rebels who have threatened the Libyan leader by seizing important towns close to the capital.

Checkpoints were set up in the west of Tripoli for the first time, with anyone wishing to pass needing official papers, The New York Times reported.

According to the BBC, in the eastern city of Benghazi, residents have been queuing to receive guns looted from army and police depots, so that they may join the battle for Tripoli.

China strives to evacuate nationals from Libya
    2011-02-25 01:54:29 GMT2011-02-25 09:54:29(Beijing Time) Xinhua English

by Lin Liping, Liao Lei and Tan Jingjing

BEIJING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- In one of its largest-ever withdrawal efforts of nationals from abroad, China has been working hard to evacuate its tens of thousands of nationals from riot-torn Libya in the past few days.

Some 12,000 Chinese nationals have so far been evacuated from the north African country, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao said early Friday morning.

Song told reporters about the latest figure at the Beijing International Airport shortly after welcoming back 224 Chinese flying home by taking the first chartered plane sent by the Chinese government to evacuate its nationals from Libya, which arrived at the airport at 2:15 a.m.Friday (GMT 1815 Thursday).

The Air China CA060 flight, which flew Wednesday to this north African country thrown into chaos by anti-government uprisings and protests, left Libya's capital Tripoli Thursday afternoon.

So far, the Chinese government has sent two chartered planes to evacuate its nationals from Libya, carrying task groups and emergency relief materials.

The second chartered plane has also departed Egypt's Cairo, taking another batch of Chinese back home. The plane is expected to arrive in Beijing at 9:00 a.m. Friday local time (GMT 0100).

In the past few days, the Chinese nationals in Libya, mostly employees of Chinese companies with businesses in Libya, had been evacuated to neighboring countries including Greece, Egypt and Tunisia by ocean liners, airplanes or coaches, according to the Foreign Ministry.

The evacuated Chinese on board the first chartered plane are mainly engineers and technicians working in Libya and their family members.

They said they were frightened but now feel safe after coming back home.

"We almost burst into tears when we heard that our government had chartered a plane to take us back home," Jiang Ying, a mother of a 20-month baby from the central Hubei Province, told Xinhua.

Jiang, who went to Libya last June to join his husband working for a communication company, said it had been hard to even get food and water in Libya and they could not sleep at night.

"My husband is still there, I hope he and his colleagues can come home safe as soon as possible," she said.

The 224 nationals were warmly welcomed at the airport by You Quan, a senior official of the State Council, and some other officials from the Foreign Ministry and other departments.

Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao hailed the arrival of the first chartered plane as "important progress in the evacuation of Chinese nationals from Libya."

The Chinese government has been evacuating the nationals by air, sea and land routes, involving chartered planes, hired ocean liners and coaches.

Meanwhile, according to the information office of the Chinese Defense Ministry, a Chinese navy frigate of the "Xuzhou" fleet, which had been conducting its escorting mission in the Aden Gulf, has left for the waters surrounding Libya to provide support and protection for the ships evacuating the Chinese nationals.

However, the vice foreign minster noted that the evacuation work faces challenges as there are still a large number of Chinese stranded in Libya and the situation in Libya remains complicated.

He said the foreign ministry will continue to work with relevant departments, embassies abroad and the Chinese enterprises in Libya to evacuate all the Chinese from Libya in a safe and orderly way.

He prob needs them. I saw on the TW news that they had many officers but certain very 'emotional' protesters make huge individual efforts to ram past the human blockade of cops. Of course they usually ended up wailing around on the ground getting surrounded by 5 security officers but good effort none the less.

Premier Wen Jiabao said China had set a lower than usual economic growth target and pledged to contain soaring prices as concern over runaway growth mounts, as the world's second-largest economy would aim for seven percent annual growth over the next five years -- a rare lowering of its usual target of eight percent expansion, until now seen as key to staving off social unrest.

A sharp rise in the Chinese yuan would bankrupt businesses and leave workers jobless, Premier Wen Jiabao said in one of the strongest recent defences of the country's forex policy.

Workers clear the crash site after a freight train was derailed in a collision with a truck in Tianjin on February 26, 2011. China would continue to 'push forward' a massive expansion of the country's huge railway system, but safety concerns must come to the forefront, said Sheng Guangzu, the railway ministry's newly named Communist Party chief, as the ambitious development of China's huge rail network, which is set to be expanded to 120,000 kilometres (74,400 miles) by 2020, up from about 86,000 kilometres in 2010.

Chinese nationals evacuated from Libya arrive at Beijing Capital International Airport in Beijing, China, Feb. 27, 2011.

BEIJING, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- More than 20,000 Chinese nationals had been evacuated from unrest-wracked Libya as of Sunday, according to China's Foreign Ministry.

About 1,400 had returned to China while 3,400 were on their way to a third country, said a statement from the ministry.

An estimated 15,200 were temporarily in a third country: 7,200 on the Greek island of Crete, 2,100 in Malta and 5,900 on the Tunisian island of Djerba, said the Chinese ministry.

"Almost all Chinese citizens have been pulled out of eastern Libya, from the area in and around Benghazi," it said.

Re: Chinese Daily Life in Videos, Photos & News!

In almost all of today's newspapers there is mention of yet another "Jasmine Revolution" in China with, again, another McDonalds serving as the hub. This time however journalists from the BBC were arrested and a American journalist beaten up by the police. Fairly serious stuff now. But this time it seems US Ambassador Huntsman wasn't spotted....yet.

Pretty amazing footage. Here's US Ambassador Huntsman at last week's what-ever-it-was.
