Warriors of the Yang clan is a very historical show that is about the 7 sons of Yang Ye and Yang Ye's wife serving the Song emperor...

In the northern Song dynasty... China.

Liao intruted the Song (China) for a very long time, the war lasted for about 30 to 50 years.

During the war, Yang Ye (A general and the father of 7 sons in the Yang family) he had a wife named She Sai-hua.

General Yang Ye is a brilliant general who fend off many attacks from the Liaos. After serveral battles at the borders between Song and Liao, Yang Ye and his army earned a honourable victory and won some lands from Liao.
The Song and the Liaos signed a peace-threaty for a short time till the Liaos threatens the Song and invaded again. This time with many troops and horses.

General Yang Ye and his 6 sons went to the borders to fend off the Liaos. Again, a victory was earned by the Song and the Liaos retreated. But when general Yang Ye and his 6 sons are on the way back home, they were ambushed.

Many Liao soldiers charged and are given orders to kill all Yangs. A battle had begun, the Songs were outnumbered and begun to flee while Yang Ye's first and second son covers the rest of the Yangs and soldiers.

Yang Ye's 2 sons were killed...

The rest flee.

Yang Ye's fourth song and some troops were scattered during the chaos. But met with the rest of the soldiers days later.

At that time, Yang Ye's seventh son and sixith son returned to the capital, found out that Pan Ren Mei at the gate with guards, Pan Ren Mei is a very bad minister. He and guards gaurded the gate. When Yang Ye's 7th son asked him for reinforcements. Pen Ren Mei stabbed him with a dagger and he fell. Yang Ye's 7th son was hanged on the city gate (Not on the throat, he cannot die right?). Minister Pan ordered some archers to shoot at 7th brother! But the 6th came to 7th bro's aid. But Minister Pan ordered the guards to kill the 2 Yang brothers. The 2 Yang bros fought the guards to survive. 7th bro was injured so 6th carried em on his back. 6th bro was stabbed by guards with spears. He fell, and 7th bro fell... Both are bloody.

7th and 6th bro layed on the ground, they faced each other and had last words. 7th bro said "We gotta get home to see mom my brother! Remember when we were little? We used to play outside, if we got home late. Mom will wack our little buttoms". (Truely a sad momment). Pan Ren Mei shot 6th bro with a arrow and killed him. Then 7th bro summoned all his strength and stood up and tried to kill Pan Ren Mei, but minister Pan ordered archers to shoot the 7th Yang brother. 7th bro was killed with tens of dozens of arrows into his chest. Now, only the 3rd, 4th, and 5th son were alive. Yang Ye also. But when they ran into a temple for safety, Liao army came and found Yang Ye, and his 4th son were alive. Now 5th bro was not on the battlefield, he was at a temple back in southern China. Now Yang Ye is dead with his 4th son, only his 3rd son is alive on the battkefield. He returned to the Capital and went home to tell the emperor what happened. The only 1 who returned was the 3rd son of the Yang family. He told his mom She Sai-hua what happened. Which made his mom felt painful.

from what i've read from a book, the 6th son was not killed (and did not go with the 7th son for reinforcement) and was the only male Yang warrior left fighting for Song. and the 4th son was captured by the Liao during that ambush, then somehow he married the Liao's princess and kinda helped his brother in the wars. the 5th son was been chased to a buddist monestary and became a monk in order to get away.

True, after this was posted. I watched it again, he was captured by the Liao Princess.. 4th bro did not even like her. But the princess allowed him to look at his brother's corpse.

But I think the 5th Yang brother went to the temple to learn martial arts. After he knew his brothers died, then he went to the battlefield and joined the army.

The 3th son returned to the palace and told the emperor that Pan Ren Mei killed his 7th brother.

Now I am confused. So 6th went home, and 5th did this, and 2nd went that way, but not before 1st did this, which was only after 7th did that, because 4th had done this which cuased 3rd to do this...

didn't after awhile all their sons died, and their daughter-in-laws, grandsons, and granddaughter-in-laws had to go fight on the battle field also?

alright, let's make this clear:
*1st son died during the ambush
*2nd son died during the ambush
*3rd son died during the ambuse (the book said he was holding the door to let the others out of the city)
*4th son got captured and married to the Liao princess
*5th son became a monk (according to the book)
*6th son lived and fought for Song for many years afterwards (he also killed Pan for revenge later)
*7th son got shot by Pan <---EVIL!!!
*8th son (yes, there's an 8th son, well Yang Ye adopted him) also died during the ambush

Minister Pan is evil! People even called him a animal. There's even citizens that want to eat his heart uncooked.

i won't go so far to call it a 'clan', it's simply about 3 generations in yang's family, they all brilliant military commanders and brave warriors, but that's not the real point.

what the story trying to tell, is their loyalty to the emperor, who is a stupid coward.

real history was a bit different. For one, the main antagonist in the story doesn't even exist. The person that betrayed Yang Ye was called Pang Mei (no Pang Ren Mei in history). Next, the story pretty much ends at Yang Ye's death. In real history, the Yang clan woudl remain strong even to Yang Ye's grandson. After Yang Ye died, Yang Yangzhao (6th son) would gaurd the borders for over 20 years. When he died, Yang Wenguang would be the successor and he fought along with Chou Qing.

Thsi is a little off topic but I have a question.

Here's the background. My son that is now in the Navy reserve had a 1/2 Chinese 1/2 Vietnamese friend in high school named Tony. Tony was confined to a wheelchair. My son helped him out in school getting around school and on the bus etc. Tony visited us quite frequently. He loved our family so much he called us the "Black Tiger Clan". Is that name of any historical signifinance?

Thanks..

well thru google search it definitely exists in some fictional wuxia novels (those made-up martial art fighting stuff), but none of them are the well known ones, as far as i know.

other than that, i don't think it exists historically.

Thanks, that's what I have discovered over the years. I was hoping someone had some more insight.Perhaps some unprinted lore....I'm going to San Diego on Friday. If I see Tony..I will ask him.

Thanks again!
