Actually, China's modern missiles are all indigenous. Only in the 50's 60's did we receive limited amounts of Soviet help, if any.

You can read about the origins of China's Dongfeng missile and Long March rocket's here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsien_Hsue-shen
"Tsien established the Institute of Mechanics and began to retrain Chinese engineers in the techniques he had learned in the United States and retool the infrastructure of the Chinese program. Within a year Tsien submitted a proposal to the PRC government to establish a ballistic missile program. This proposal was accepted and Tsien was named the first director of the program in late 1956. By 1958 Tsien had finalized the plans of the Dongfeng missile which was first successfully launched in 1964 just prior to China's first successful nuclear weapon's test. Tsien's program was also responsible for the development of the widespread Silkworm missile."
There's also a book dedicated to Dr. Tsien's life titled "Thread of the Silkworm".

Looks like this is similar to HN-1, but just equipped on H-6.
JANE'S MISSILES AND ROCKETS - OCTOBER 01, 2004
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
China tests new land-attack cruise missile
China has test-fired a new land attack cruise missile (LACM) designated Dong Hai-10 (DH-10), or East China Sea-10, writes Wendell Minnick. A US defence source identified the DH-10 as a ground-launched second-generation LACM with a range of more than 1,500km. He said it is likely to be equipped with an integrated inertial navigation system/Global Positioning System, supplemented by a terrain contour mapping system and digital scene-matching terminal-homing system able to provide a circular error probable (CEP) of 10m.
China is also expected to field a second LACM within the next few years. The Ying Ji-63 (YJ-63), or Strike Eagle-63, is described by the source as a first-generation LACM with a range of 400-500km and the ability to carry a 500kg high explosive warhead at a speed of Mach 0.68. The missile is believed to be fitted with combined inertial and GPS mid-course guidance, plus some form of electro-optical terminal guidance. The latter is expected to provide a CEP of 10-15m, but it will probably be limited by weather. If it is a TV homing system rather than an autonomous scene-matching sensor, this will require a line-of-sight communications link with the launch aircraft or another platform.
The US source further pointed out that Harpy unmanned aerial vehicles obtained by China from Israel in 2001 are now operational.
These three sophisticated weapons pose new challenges to Taiwan, which has been engaged in extended debate over the ballistic missile threat from China. "Taiwan has not met the growing LACM threat head on," the source complained.
The YJ-63 is likely to be launched from the Xian H-6 'Badger' bomber, a copy of the Tupolev Tu-16. The naval version of this aircraft already has two wing-mounts for anti-ship missiles, but China is experimenting with additional pylons. One H-6 (No. 81217) has already been modified to incorporate four wing-mounted cruise missile pylons.

those drones might be the chang-kong 2. it has a similar engine layout to the chang-kong one. no official photos or data are out, but its a decent guess. the missle also looks like its made to be supersonic, with the sharp fins.

this is an interesting article here http://www.wforum.com/newspool/articles/headline/71612.html
Saying that last month, China successfully tested new HN LACM. It's success is based on K-55, tomahawk and Israeli cruise missiles?
China used several tomahawk shells from past American launches in the Middle East conflicts. However, it's mainly based on K-55 a/b.
a little info on that system http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/world/russia/as-15.htm
Apparently, the range of new HN is 3000 KM with 1.5 meter of error distance? Comparable to tomahawk.
China started cruise missile development in 1977. HN-1 had range of 600 KM. HN-2 had a range of 1500 KM and entered service in 1996. HN-3 has range of 2500 KM. These are mainly land based cruise missiles. China is trying to prepare for shipborne version, submarine launched version and air launched version.
The first low flying missile test is 1988 and it was equipped with a turbofan engine. It's cruise altitude was 200 to 300 meter, speed mach0.7. didn't hit the target, had 500 km range, length 8.4 m, width 2.4 m.
HN-1's cruise alttiude 15 to 7000 meter, 20 to 6000 for hn-2 and 10 to 8000 for hn-3.
HN-2000's goal is to attack anywhere on earth.

Quick note on Ukrainian cruise missile exports to Iran and China:
http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/world/iran/x-55.htm
On 18 March 2005 "Financial Times" newspaper of Britain reported that Ukrainian Prosecutor-General Svyatoslav Piskun had stated that Ukraine exported 12 cruise missiles to Iran and six to China in 2001. Piskun told the paper that none of the 18 X-55 cruise missiles (also known as Kh-55 or AS-15) was exported with the nuclear warheads they were designed to carry.

China's new cruise missile programme 'racing ahead'
DUNCAN LENNOX Editor Jane's Strategic Weapon Systems
London
Recent developments within China's new cruise missile programmes, although not confirmed officially, indicate that rates of progress have been faster than anticipated.
China's development of a nuclear-armed cruise missile was reported in a 1995 Russian document, which also suggested that the complete production facility was transferred to Shanghai. Although originally thought to refer to the Kh-15 (NATO codename: AS-16 'Kickback') missile, more recent reports suggest that the project was probably associated with the Kh-55 (AS-15 'Kent'). Another 1995 report focused on the flight tests of a supersonic unmanned air vehicle, which may have been either a cruise missile or a target drone.
Earlier cruise missile programmes in China were believed to have been designed by the Hai Ying Electro-Mechanical Technology Academy, based on the Hai Ying -1 and Hai Ying-2 (Silkworm) family of anti-ship missiles, and later with the Hai Ying-3 ramjet powered and Hai Ying-4 turbojet powered missiles.
In the mid-1980s, the 8359 Research Institute was established for cruise missile development, and also the Cruise Missile Institute of China. It is believed that the Cruise Missile Institute was probably a new name for the Hai Ying EMT Academy.
The use of Western RGM/UGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles since 1991 against six countries has allowed China opportunities in reverse engineering. More than 600 Tomahawk missiles were launched in attacks against targets in Iraq between 1991-98, in Bosnia in 1995, in Afghanistan and Sudan in 1998, and in Serbia and Kosovo in 1999. As there are at least six reported cases when these missiles landed more or less intact without the warhead exploding, some were believed to have been recovered and transported to China. A wide range of advanced technologies associated with cruise missile design may therefore have been made available to China. These include: INS/GPS guidance; computer hardware and software; electronics; power supplies; airframe; wings; fuel system; and small turbofan engines.
A cruise missile development programme, known as X-600 in China, is believed to have started in 1977. A small turbofan engine was tested in 1985 with the first missile with a range of 600km entering service in 1992. This missile may be designated Hong Niao-1 (HN-1). It is similar in appearance to the Russian Kh-55, with two straight folding wings at the mid-body, and a folding aircraft tail and tailplane assembly at the rear.
The engine is mounted in the rear body of the missile, with an under-body air inlet. The missile has a length of 6.4m, a diameter of 520mm, a wing span of 3.0m, and a launch weight believed to be around 1,400kg. A warhead weight of 300 to 400kg is expected with this design, which could be nuclear with a yield of 90kT or high explosive submunitions. Guidance in mid-course is inertial, with terrain comparison and possibly GPS updates. Terminal guidance is believed to be by terrain comparison, using a TV camera to view the target area and refine the aim point.
One report suggests that an accuracy of 5m circular error of probability (CEP) has been achieved, although this may well be optimistic. A radio altimeter is used to control the cruise altitude, which is reported to be 20m. Reports suggest that an improved engine became available in 1992, and that an HN-2 version entered service in 1996 with a range increased to between 1,500 and 2,000km.
A further upgrade, HN-3, is now being developed with its range further increased to 2,500km. The first versions of the HN-1/-2/-3 missiles are believed to be ground-launched from wheeled vehicles, and later versions are expected to be developed for ship-, submarine- and aircraft-launch.
The ground-launched missiles are fitted with tandem mounted solid propellant boost motor assemblies, which are jettisoned after use. There have been reports that a long-range land attack cruise missile will be fitted to the new Chinese Type 093 attack submarines, and will be launched in a capsule from the 533mm diameter torpedo tubes. For air-launching, the cruise missiles could be carried by Shenyang JH-7, J-8IIM or J-11 (Su-27 'Flanker') aircraft.

The interesting part is that this is DH-10, which Chinese think has a 3000 KM range, but JDW in this following article contradicted one of its early articles.

Defence sources stated that China has the capability to convert up to 25 H-6 bombers, so it could eventually be able to add 100 air-launched cruise missiles to the force of 200-300 short-range ballistic missiles expected to form the first wave of missiles launched during any Chinese attack on Taiwan. "Before too long, there will also be ship and sub-launched cruise missiles," stated one source.
I know that I posted a lot of HN series stuff before, but at the current time, it seems DH-10 with a range of 1500 KM is the most likely answer. Considering that only YJ-63 have been equipped so far, it is likely that the 2nd generation DH-10 just started deployment and the 3rd generation is not out yet.

Thats Dong Feng 41 the new nuke China is designing .....or building. At least, thats what the magazine says. It looks like a tube put on the body of a huge mobile crane without the crane.:) I had a different image in my mind. It does look kinda weird. I expected it to be a bit more... bigger

Reminds me of Russian ICBMs especially Topol M but I guess the DF-41 will be used more on cross-country trucks than in silos, who knows there might even be train version

http://www.i-ru.cz/foto1/Topol-M_zima1211x1290.jpgYeah, a train version, I heard that the DF-41 could be launched by mobile, silo, and a train! A train, yeah now that would look interesting. I have only seen trains used as weapons by carring a cannon, never a missile. A nuclear train, now that would be interesting.;)

I can't read the print on the DF-41 article you posted, Swimmer. It's a bit too small.
Can you please tell me if the article says anything about the status of the DF-41 program? When is it expected to enter service?

I take it that you are not familiar with Soviet rail-mobile missiles such as RT-23 UTTKh? Using trains as platforms since RT-21 which began in the 60s. In fact, there are recent photos which suggests China had been using them for some time, too, see:
