Is that 130mm SPA a real Chinese design or Korean design?

The truck mounted 122mm MLRS is the type 90, the armoured version is type 89.

The 130mm is chinese desing, based on the Type 83 PS gun but only whit the 130mm cannon in place of the 152mm howitser...

anyway is nice to see artillery pics for once, not just tank pics...:china:

AL-ZARRAR
Up-gradation / Modernization of Tank T-59
NECESSITY
Tank T - 59, which has been in use with Pakistan Army, is being upgraded under a phased programme since 1990. After having completed 1st phase of upgrade in1997, the 2nd phase has been launched in 1998 with a total of 50 upgrade features, which have given a quantum technological leap to this old tank.
Owing to their large population, Pakistan Army can not afford to discard / phase out all T-59 tanks therefore, 3rd phase upgradation was planned to be implemented to keep these tanks operationally and technologically compatible with the modern tanks in use with our adversary.
CONCEPT
It is envisaged to utilize stretch potential of T - 59 tank through upgrade in fire power, mobility and armour protection at a fraction of the cost of a modern main battle tank.
PROGRESS
Three prototypes were developed on the above-mentioned concept and subjected to extensive user / technical trials and the selected version has since been in production since year 2003.
Presently the requirement of the Pakistan Army is being met in totality.
EXPORT POTENTIAL
Owing to a cost effective upgrade many countries have shown keen interest in the project and in some cases it is in an advance stage of negotiations.
Specification
MODERNIZATION PARAMETERS
As an R & D project three prototypes were prepared with a view to incorporate the following :-
§ 125mm Smooth Bore Gun
§ 700 HP Engine with compatible power train
§ Compatible Gun Control and Fire Control System

thank for those picture swimmer, make me feel that PLA SpecOP were not bad as shown in the other thread. Still, I wondering, are they going too far ?? All the technical equipment, for exemple the laser range finder on those rifles and all the sighting system are relatively fragile ...

Those equipment sure looks fancy and probably useful. But with all that stuff protruding from the helmet somehow feels like it will cause abit of trouble when running/ crawling around in terrian with moderate to dense vegetation. Also i personally do not like stuff sticking too high from my helmet because it just increases profile of my head for the enemy. Anyway i got a feeling that the equipment shown in these pics will be refined in the future.

the stuff does look like it's going to fall out but then again the US army like the navy seas tehy don't carry that much... i guess these are more for urban warfare

Hold up. One of the pics on this thread showed a WS-2??? Wow. I have been hearing for ever a year that the WS-2 was out, but I never beleived it. What is its range? There are some sources that say the PA has the WS-1B, but it doesn't mention the WS-2.

I think the laser gun will be used primarily for the purpose of guiding percision strike weapons. I suppose it could also be used as a blinding device, but that would not be very effective in my opinion since it can only work with a direct face shot.

maybe it blinds people, like the LAPD's laser guns. or its a laser for guiding ground fired roket munitions, or a type of tracer. but it wouldnt do much good for stealth...

It is a weapon designed to blind targets. Developed by the PAP tech department. I am guessing it is used for anti-rioting and crowd control. I remember reading it some where that the user is able to adjust power level of the laser. weaker settings can cost temperory blindness and stronger ones can infilect permenant damge.

First , HELLO to all. I'm a new guy to this forum and this is my first post. Really cool pics, swimmerXC. One correction only. These are not AA turrets, but IFV turrets. The turret in the 1st, 2nd and 4th pic is obviously based at least in concept on the Russian Kliver, combining an autocannon and ATGMs. The 3rd pic shows an overhead mount turret with probablya 25mm cannon

Those are PLZ-45 155mm SP guns in PLA colours. There were five of them in the pic, tough it may not mean anything, but it seems to me like it's going on operational testing.

4th pic, whats that big cone thingy used for?

It's rifle grenade launcher, fitted in the muzzle and fired by using special ammoes which holds no bullet.

Is there any info regarding outcome? Judging by those pictures you can't actually tell, whether armor was peneterated or not. And those pictures below... I doubt they have any connection to the test. Probably i could be wrong.

Well have you ever toughted how field artillery works? They shoot over-the-horizon unlike tank guns which fires so called direct-fire where the tube is elevated in modest angels. But over-the-horizon fire requires tubes to set for much more higher angle. And when the gun is stuffed inside a armoured box, the box (in this case the turret) must be big enough for maxium elevation aple to achive. Also field artillery guns and howitsers tend to be bigger than normal tankguns so that adds the requirement of space.

But We have dedicated question asking thread in the world armed forces section where questions like these should be made...

Anyway, here's an interesting pic. It seems to be the turret of Type 89 120mm Selfpropelled anti-tank gun atop of Type 59 hull...
I don't know wheter it's photoshoped or not, but at least to my eyes it seems quite authentic...
