Fix what is broken

The Sinodefence website is suffering a lot of problems. Articles that were there once have apparently disappered and they cannot be found. For example, the section for anti-tank missiles as a whole just up and disappeared. Also, some articles cannot be found when you type in the link, but when you do a search for it, and click on the link on the search page, it works.

This is a wonderful website, and has much great information on the Chinese military, but it is getting more diffulcult to access this. this is the only website of its kind (atleast with a lot of information), and I would like to see it restored to its former granduer.

I don't know if anyone here is or even knows the website admins, but they need to do some work. I don't know if it is hackers, or even the Chinese governement doing it, but I would like to see the website work.

Don't feel like I am angry or anything, but I would like to see this website restored to its full potential.

Yes there are problems here that need to be addressed. This is my favorite website.

Swimmer ..I can't post pics in that world military pic thread. My page just freezes and sometimes my computer shuts down. Are you,the master of picture posting, having similar trouble?

I was emailed back and told the javscript(whtever that is:confused:) was being removed. But the problem still persist:mad: . That why I, bd popeye, has posted no pics in his USN pic thread..Maybe I should eat some spinach and try to post some pics????:rofl:

well i dont know if others suffer from this, but my home cp doesent have chinese writing support system (i see all chinese typing as series of indentical square boxes) ...and that stalls the pages pretty badly...and my temper as well....

Golly I get the same thing. square O..Oh well..I can't read Chines anyway! And they do goof up a computer!

Thank you for your message.

The website is not being hacked by anyone (well, as far as I know...). I have been making some adjustment in the structure of the website and this has caused some problems. With more restructure working being scheduled, you might see this happening again.

I am trying my best to link the old pages with the new pages so that when you click the link to the old page, you will automatically jump to the new page. However, this does not always work :(

The ATGM section did not disappear, I moved them to the crew-served weapon section. If you are looking for some missing information which you are sure it WAS on my website, please let me know and I will help you find it.

It is good to know that some admistrators still listen to the people who view thier websites instead of turning a deaf ear.

I agree, you must be proactive in improving a website, and you have done a good job already, so I do not doubt that your improvements are of the same quality.

Sinodefence is the only one of its kind (atleast to some of its users), and good quality just makes it even better.

Yes i did a few days ago. I no longer post in the world pic thread because when I go there my computer locks up and I can't post..In fact I have to shut down my computer and start over. I do not know why. I can post pics in other threads in this forum but not in the world pic thread. I have posted no pics in there for three days.

You can post in other threads... that are not as big as the world pic threads? That maybe the problem right there. There are too many pictures posted, the pictures are too large (often times directly linked from DoD sites which have size more than 1 MB) and to make things worst, the script that turns the pictures small so huge pictures do not expand the page does not behave well in such situation.

I betcha that's the problem. Most of my pics are those big ones from DoD sites like navy.mil..Oh well....

Well, test now. IT should speed things up a little bit. If you are on a slow connection, then only slow part would be how long it takes for those larges images to download to your PC. Java script that would cause slowness has been removed.

Well I went there oh mighty one. The java script is gone but the page freeze still occur..My computer froze up for a short while. But I did get to exit the page without shutting down my computer.

Personally I think the javscript should remain on that page. as on all pics because those pics are just to big....Viewers can still expand them to their full glory..err I mean size....

Well it's a month later and I'm still having problems posting pictures...This is what I posted in the Black list discussion;

Humm??? Probally it's my server Damn Earthlink....

My main problem is posting pictures. I can post them after a couple of attempts. The page usally freezes or my computer goes haywire(locks up)..Oh well..


This is an on going problem for me.....Like I posted. It's probally has to do with my server Earthlink. But in fairness to them I only have problems on that World's military photo page:( :confused: :mad: :o
