After the new forum, people needed to take time to adjust. Off course, Chinawhite, Friedriceandspice, Germark didnpt took the advice serious, but you have to give credit for them for the early days contribution.:D

I just want to say that I have been a reader of this site and forum for a long time even before I signed up for posting. The enforcement of people not lowering the forum to flaming and idiocy contests really helped me keep this site on my favorites list because there is a lot of intelligent discussion going on otherwise. So thanks to the moderators for the housekeeping!

This japanese come in some forum start bashing chinese, and everything will be ok if not some vietnamese, indians, taiwanese and a hamburger come and join him. Since chinese are outnumber, and these people are going out of hand. As oversea Chinese I will do the honor to back up my fellow countrymen .

After this japanese got beaten up pretty bad, he went to one chinese military forum. And he did a great job of getting ban in three days, since I am a member of that forum I did posted something but he is overwhelming already.

After that this japnese go back to the old forum to complaint, chinese welcome him back with open arm and explain the reason behide the ban. But he went back to his ownself and talked about chinese threat, well another flame war broke out. Big Goll took pity of him, and ask him to join Sinodefforum.

Well actually Big Goll come in back him up few time, because Big Goll was enjoying a love&hate relationship with Chinawhite, and they will come in bashing each other everyday:nana: . So you see I got myself into this deep hole, and begin active in here:p .

One note of advice, KYli, I'd suggest you use line breaks in your paragraphs to make it easier on the eyes and more comprehensible...

I also mostly lurk here as opposed to posting unless I think I can contribute something meaningful to the thread or something that someone else hasn't thought of or posted.

Although I have to say I can't really judge on "defending countrymen" in forums. In most logical arguments it doesn't matter how many people are involved, one guy with the most logical argument will win out regardless of other factors. If you're debating which country is better, well, that's simply a pointless argument, it's impossible to tell.

I've seen many arguments spawn across message boards saying "Oh, Japan did this so they're bad" and someone else would respond, "Oh but China did that!" and so forth... I tend to stay away from them because it's impossible to come out feeling vindicated.

Winners write the history books and I think that a lot of the more nationalistic countries have pretty different versions of history than other countries would... for instance you won't read much about Japanese atrocities in WW2 if you're an elementary school student in Japan, likewise you won't read about CCP atrocities much in China either. It's a pointless affair...

But by all means jump in if that's what you like to do, it keeps stuff alive~

I would say nobody win in any arguements, maybe the logical one will have the ground. But people do tend to stick to what they believe, so I would say nobody actually win.

I would say CDF and SDF both are very good. Lately, Keyforum do not have much good dicussions and information going around like it used to have. I guess it have to do with many of senior members did not anticipate the talk anymore. CMF is full with the flame, but in early day CMF is the only place around. It still have some great stuff occassionally, I rather enjoy CMF. CDF is for serious dicussion, but at the end of day you probaly end up look around instead of joining the talk.

Well if i invited someone, it's purely for marketing purposes of this forum, which i'm very fond of as i've put so much for it's behalf. Perhaps thats the ultimate reason why i have bitter crunch towards some members no longer present...you see they have found my weak point, questioning my efforts on this great forum (and later on questioning many other things) I'm one of the guys still around from early days of Ezboard and wached how the forum grew from "onepostaday" place to freakshow where everything could happen, then trasforming towards proffesional discussion arena for chinese military. This forum is like home to me, others just place to visit and i'm trying hard to keep up with Donfengs ideas and dreams of what kind of forum this should be, even if it sometimes means i have to dirt my hands on....


But about this certain member that you talked about, it doesen't matter what he have doen in the past, nor does it matter in anyone elses case. In here only thing that matters is how you act in here, at this moment. Most trouple in here with him has been that other members starts freaking out when he just walks by...but sofar (and i actually belive that he will act as good as any other of you) he hasen't coased any proplems whatsoever in his posting. So i'm advicing to all of you just judge members in here on how they act in here and keep your emotions cool...

But wheter i'm indian, this has been big mystery for me becouse i've been tought to be one for several occasions. The ilfamous Chinawhite even boasted that he could prove it....:confused: So i say this one last time and i'm ecspecting this wont raise to become an issue any longer. I'M NOT INDIAN, I'M FINNISH, RAISE AND BORN IN DEEP WOODS OF HÄME. I'VE EVEN NEVER BEEN IN INDIA!!!
Okey lets settle a bit. This misunderstanding comes propaply from the fact that i've been defending indian side in various bashing conflicts, but thats simply becouse i've trying to get facts straight. I wont stand in side if someone bash some other country with selfinvented facts and minimizizing some equipment just becouse they have been manufactured in some certain country. Wiht indian case it seems that all you chinese members seem to think that only Indians keeps up their flag, and everyone else should know that everything coming form india is toataly useless and bitiful....well pardon me to break your illusions.

About these other forums and flames in there, it's all down to moderating policyes. When i first came along to Keypub, i was amaized what was going on there...it really reminded me about those crazydays of old Ezboard with britihsboi and all...The thing is that if the tolerance is low then even guys with good reputation and matrure ways can end up calling others wiht names and so on. I've fallen to those low manners myself. I'm a guy how needs disipline, someone clearly saying you are not allow to do that and i obey. Perhaps the armytime got hold on me...who knows. Annyway my point is that if there is no sheriff in town, then the wild wild west thing is on the row...I even pointed this thing out in the Keypub. but sofar nothing has happened. But in here things are different. The administration has set clear rules and told us mods to make sure that the rules are to be followed. So we mods, exspecially me don't go and ban people just for fun...we do what we are told to do. This has led to some unfortuned incidences few times where some strongminded members cannot see their own faults and tought that we mods act on personally driven basis. It may seem fasism to someone, but i personally think that is the main reason why our forum have become more proffesional. In the old forum we mods didn't have the tools to keep all of you in line but this bulletinboard gives us just the right instruments to cut out the bad tweeds as they say here in finland....

But i think this thread is now turning up to be somesort of open arena where everyone can say bad form everyone...and thats not the way around here. Also there shouldn't be any questions how different forums qualify against each others becouse we all know tha Dongfengs Chinese defence today and it's dedicated forum is the best information availble for chinese military matters:p


And seriously don't forget the quizz...we have had way too low participation in last couple weeks....

I have to say that probably none of us are actually fully aware of the military capabilities of ANY country (currently) and if we were we wouldn't be at the liberty to discuss it on a public forum anyway...

Pretty much sums it up, I've only gotten about 150 posts in the 4 month period since. I would like to point out that out of us 3, I am the only one still not banned :)

The truth is, with school, sports, and friends, it is hard to find time to post or do reserach on such topics, so do not expect me to post very often until summer.

Ok, to answer Popeye's question, that article is basically saying that there are "thousands" of Chinese have been interviewed by FBI or CIA agents because they had the experience of working for the Chinese national or defence research institutes before they came to the United States. They have been specifically asked for the details of the works they did and what they knew while they were in these research institutes. This is part of the intelligence gathering network of FBI or CIA. BTW, they came to United States as graduate students/visiting scholars, and they work as professional after they got the advanced degrees.

You know what..I am concerned about the lack of posting in the forum these days. We mods do have the forum under control ....but I think that the stricness has discouraged many from posting. What do you fellows think?

I've noticed fewer post. I think sometimes we mods are to strict. Myself included.:rolleyes: But order must be maintained.

I "troll" in other forums and see our posters from here posting away ..but some of those same folks seldom post here..

I was really expecting this forum explode with post this summer because so many members are out of school.. So far it has not happened like it did last year..I'm really disapointed.

We need to get some good quality threads, and I think that that could be accomplished by loosing the rules on politics, India-China discussions and maybe allowing threads to drift into some more interesting areas, as long as they are valueable discussion.

yeah, I was one of the first ones to visit when the forum was created. I remember SwimmerXC posting up PLA pictures, but for whatever reason, it stopped. I don't know much about the military and hardware specifics, so there was no reason for me to join.

:) ...How touching! I've been missed! Sorry guys, I've been moderating at other boards and working too much. Then my health went way south. Doctors said I had four heart attacks, but I did not realize it and worked right through them, and went home thinking I was just sick all four times. So now I'm out of work disabled. The doctors say all my blood is pooling in my legs due to bad veins. That means my heart pumps faster to get more blood, which traps more blood, which eventually goes dry and goes into a cardiac arrest. I'm seeing the Mayo Clinic to see if they can fix the legs now...

...Well that's what I thought, but that's apparently only under total cardiac failure. In my case it was extreme nausea,profuse sweating, a bit of pain in my arms and syncope(nearly blacking out, but snapping back out of it, albeit being totally disoriented). I went home an lied down, which restored blood to the heart again after an hour or so.....The worst part was driving 13 miles fighting off syncope attacks, I should not have been driving....

..Also too, they say I've got an unusually strong heart too, alot of people would have suffered total ventricular failure, but my heart muscles withstood the stress of nearly running out of blood. The cardiologist says it would be like taking a one inch pipe and replacing it with a coffee straw. That's what my heart was fighting.......

You can add Germark to that list. All in all we lost a lot of good posters. FriedRicenSpice, Ender, FreeAsia, Roger604 and PiSigma were some of our most experinced, knowledgeable members. In fact they were the people I "got to know" reading this forum before I joined it. Its a shame a lot of them are probably gone for good but people have a way of appearing and dissappearing and reappearing on SDF.

I dont know where to put this post so I'll put it here. Iam giving a helpful opinion to the moderators of this sinodefence forum. The sinodefence forum doesnt sound as professional as other forums I have been into, with multiple times the thread being completly off the topic, with arguments with one another in the thread. This makes the forum looking like amatuer and un professional. Just giving a helpful opinion

Well none of the internet forums that I've been have been really proffesionals,or matched my orginal need...but what is to do when you are in Internet:confused:

Anyway I cannot singh that commet becouse (although I'm completely subjective to say this) we have managed to cut down alot of off-topic BS and most importantly flame fights and nationalistic driven penis-contests. I'm not saying that this kind of thing doesen't happen here but atleast we have severy restricted it. In the community of military discussion forums, Defencetalk (and we as subsidors) are definetly one of the more "cleaner" ones and IMO one of the more proffesional.

But in the end we mods have limited tools to make this place more professional, its more down to you guys. Ofcourse we can cut out the bad weeds and most obvious BS but the general level of discussion is all down to the vast majority of the members. What determines proffesionalism is hard to say, but at least some things like objectivity, maturity, open-minds and desire to learn will most definelty improve it.

So come all ye young lads out there (and few old sods:p ), I throw the ball onto you...

At the risk of turning this into an anthropology discussion I'll venture this generalization that seems to hold up very well in practice.

Females tend to be much more dependent upon the emotional support of the social groups that they identify with. Therefore open conflict is not often an issue with them. Instead females within peer groups will feud and feud and feud some more, quietly with stealth. If you want to know more about female peer groups, I would recommend reading Queen Bees and Wannabes as a resource on how females approach "conflict management" also known as rendering yourself "one up" and your opponents "one down".

I think that most females tend to wonder just how crazy males are too so publicly announce their enmities with others and then make demands submission of the other side instead of stabbing them in the back, should it become necessary. Female conflict management tends to be bisected in the two parts without any intermediate stages. By this I mean that females will often go from attempting to socially ostracize or put down those that they are opposed to via wheedling indirection. However once these little petty feuds go on long enough and neither side is enabled to decisively embarrass the other... That's when we start seeing assassination being used and other forms of "conflict resolution" that provide the maximum chance dispatch an opponent while providing the minimum chance that you'll be injured in the process. In part this may be due to the fact that the females run the risk of having their reproductive organs damaged, and unlike males nature does not consider females to be expendable, thus there are certain biochemical biases against overt acts of violence from females.

Men tend to emphasize the tools of warfare just as this forum does, where-as female emphasis tends to be on social structure. This lack of concern with the tools of warfare on the part of many females may be in part due the fact that females were often only employed strictly as auxiliary to the production process of complex machines before modern times. Even at the present day, it's very very difficult for college recruiters and administrators to get girls into the hard sciences, despite all the many extra inducements available for those that do.

Then there is the old bone of contention that one need not work hard and make sacrifices when you can have someone else do it for you. Male Brains tend to be biochemically biased toward hyperactivity while female brains tend to have just the exact opposite wiring, and are more likely to experience depression or a loss in desire to take action. Many young pretty and intelligent females look around at the adults are about to come and notice those that are actually producing things are not as wealthy or glamorous as those who are getting other people to produce things on their behalf.

If you want more females in this forum than open up a forum about diplomacy/espionage and you might get a few. This forum tends to talk more about tool use in many ways than the type of conflict that females like to talk about. Unfortunately a forum about conflicts that females would be more interested in participating in would also be a forum that the trolls could more easily infiltrate. The very fact that the mods here tend to keep things very tightly focused on the original topic tends to be a turnoff to many females who have more shall we call them freeform discussions that work their way across different topics.

Ah I'm still active bd popeye, just that I'm on the process of finishing up the last two years of my engineering major in college so I've been quite busy. Same with some other members, college life is taking a toll on us. :( But yeah, summer classes have ended so I've become a bit more active these days, though regular semester is gonna start in two weeks. :confused: Plus I have two weddings to go too (a friend's wedding in Orange County, California, and another one in a Chicago suburb) these coming two weeks...

To clear out certain flase rumours and self-governing, hear this:

We investigated and looked deeply and were in contact of both members (Fu and Mr. T) and found out that the concerns were baseless. There is strong evidence (private nature so I cannot explain more)that the two guys have nothing in common except same country where they live.

So I suggest that you leave the issue to us mods from now onwards and focus on posting chinese military related stuff instead:china:
