Now that's confusing me, the pics posted by Sczepan that seems to show the same "helo" that tphuang posted have a covered tail rotor and somewhat remind me of this
whereas the WZ-10 pics on SD e.g. show a conventional design.

GS article on WZ-10 shows some pictures that all have that covered rotor design.

To me it seems that are two designs, because differences in those pics are to big for anything else. I also belive the covered rotor design to be of later origin. It would just be another step forward regarding the improvement of general helo design.

DND bidding out AFP helicopter contract

The government is acquiring six modern night-capable attack helicopters for P1.2
billion to gradually upgrade the Philippine Air Force fleet.

Defense Undersecretary for Operations Ricardo Blancaflor said at least five
foreign suppliers have signified their intention to supply the country with the
refurbished helicopters.

The suppliers are from the United States, China, Russia, France and Italy, he
said.

Blancaflor said the defense pre-bidding conference for the acquisition of the
attack helicopters, initially set for Jan. 4, was moved to Feb. 8.

"The pre-bid conference has been postponed because the membership of the defense
Board and Awards Committee is not yet complete," he said.

Blancaflor said the winner of the Feb. 8 open bidding would be known on Feb. 22,
and that before year's end, the Air Force is expected to be flying the
refurbished helicopter gunships.

"We are not buying UH-1Hs," he said. "We are not buying brand-new choppers, but
they are refurbished night-capable attack helicopters."

Blancaflor said on top of the six attack helicopters, other defense acquisitions
aimed at upgrading the fighting capability of the Armed Forces are "already in
the pipeline."

"Without compromising transparency, we are now rushing things up, doing away
with the bureaucracy for the capability upgrade of the military because the
President wanted to see results," he said.

Blancaflor said Mrs. Arroyo wanted to see results during her term as acting
defense secretary for two months.

"The President has prescribed a shortened procurement time for military
acquisition without sacrificing transparency," he said.

Blancaflor described the approved P707-million contract to upgrade three
Jacinto-Class Patrol Vessels, two Patrol Killer Medium gunboats and two
Britten-Norman Islander aircraft.

Mrs. Arroyo approved the P707-million contract to put back on top operational
shape before the year ends, five gunboats and two Britten-Norman Islander, which
the defense department had acquired from South Korea, he added.

Blancaflor said in the next few weeks, the defense department will also bid out
to interested suppliers modern combat equipment for the Philippine Army.

"When these military gadgets are acquired, the Army can easily find and fix the
enemies anytime of the day," he said.

These military equipment will be the night vision goggles, night scopes and the
Harris radio, he added.

The US supplier is offering to sell the deadly attack Cobra helicopter; China,
the attack Phoenix gunship; France, the equally versatile Euro Copten attack
helicopter; Russia, the "Hinds" transport and attack helicopter, while Italy is
offering its Augusta Westland gunship.

The Hind is the equivalent of the US Chinook, which could be used either as
transport or as attack helicopter.

Bases on the DND's estimate from its total programmed acquisition budget of P1.2
billion, each helicopter gunship would cost P210 million or $4.294 million.

I have never heard of Phoenix helicopter with pla, the only thing that I think will be available at this point is Z-9G.

That article is way off. Euro Copten, comparing Hind to Chinook, and "Phoenix". I think the Philippine Air Force will probably get AH-1F/S upgraded with Z avionics IMO.

BTW, Phoenix is a nice name for WZ-10.

huh? yes, I can see that article is way off. You don't need to point that out again. And as I stated, the only possible thing up for export imo is Z-9G. Why do people keep on thinking China will export their latest stuff like J-10, WZ-10 and KJ-2000?

Well, why not? Give a year for feeler, and then a couple of years for contract negotiation, delivery schedule agreed upon, production line assigned, and by the time the first item is delivered it is not newest stuff anymore.

And if China is really paranoid about letting others know its precise capabilities, it is not as though they can't tinker a bit with the exported items to confuse the devil out of any would-be spook. Just insert random hiccups into the control code and they'll have a hell of a time figuring out whether it was some red herring or a real bug.

And additional for a fan-art model - similar to the one posted some time ago - it looks too detailed !

For my opinion this is not a Chinese garage, where someone builds his WZ-model, but some kind of a facility within the factory !

If its just a highly detailed engineering mock-up, a prototype (maybe for stress-tests) or a real flying machine ... I can't say ... but I tend to say this is a "real" WZ-10 fuselage !
