Re: PLAAF presence at Airshows?

There has been none so far. As long as with the 81 Flying Demo team using the J7G, I do not think there will be any international airshows. When they change to the J-10 for the team, things may change ( like going to Singapore, the JL8 was first shown in Singapore, then widely exported). I think they will change to the J-10 in next 5 years or so, It took the team 5 years to change from J7E to J7G. The reason to change from E to G in a such short time has to do mainly with the end of Airframe life for those J7E's in the team. The team pilots pull more high G ACMs in a month than any of a CAT A units pilot pull in a year, mostly daily 5-7 G ACM tranings. Along with better forward visibility , the J7G also has a better ejection seat with 0-0 capability and can be safly eject its pilot in a steeper angle. Important things to have in a Fly Demo jet. BTW, these special J7G's for the 81 team is about 120 KG lighter than the regular J7G's in the front line units, a lots of combat related EQP are not there, but can be added on if needed.

This make a lot of sense, thanks. I'm hoping to see some J-10's at RIAT in the UK in 5-10 years then!
