well, not much other than what I said about first division (although I actually have a hard time detecting the first digit), I'm quite surprised that the number is painted so early.

Re: *New J-10 Thread*

In my opinion, this picture does not look credible. The lighting of the plane and the background are not consistent with each other.

Re: *New J-10 Thread*

In the CDF, there are a series of pics taken from a CCTV clip that showed J-11s from the 1st Division and MKKs from the 3rd Division. In one of the pics, the commander of the MKK regiment is discussing the mission with other pilots. It is interesting to note that the patch in his flight jacket has a J-10 silhouette on it.

Re: *New J-10 Thread*

Is there any information regarding the J-10 making use of RAM coating? Does China have RAM capabilities? I'm curious as i have read in defence forums that the Indian flankers are making use of RAM and apparently there is something like a "70%" reductions in RCS?!

Regards

Of course it does, the question is how effective they are. I've seen some really ridiculous claims before. There is this PHD on Chinese forum who is supposedly an expert on RAM said that the RAM used on J-10 is much better than the F-117 that got shot down in Kosovo. And that J-10 also uses extremely advanced radar dispersion material on the canopy.

Re: *New J-10 Thread*

China has shown RAM in exhibits since 1998. Things should have gotten a lot better since then. I have no doubt RAM would be used in their intended platforms.

70% RCS reduction don't mean much if you consider that your RCS must be reduced to 1/16th of its former figure before you can even get half range decrease in radar detection.

US intelligent mention of China using nano technology to develop RAM.and Chinese scientific article discussed RAM posted in website, show they are are quite familiar with the technology.

Russia offering SU-27SKM to india and China, according to russian article russian manage to reduced the RCS to below "1 meter".

Re: *New J-10 Thread*

Using RAM on aircraft isn't a universal remedy. It costs a lot of maintenance hours, after every flight you have to remake the coating since you are in dimensions were every small rabble makes a significant increase in RCS. That's very expensiv.
The stated 1mē RCS for the flanker may be true or not. But that will be the optimum; frontal on a "clean" aircraft. Everything it carries on it's hardpoints will again singificantly increase it's RCS from all aspects.

Chengdu Super-10

Discussion of the Chengdu Super-10 is not really present in most forums, and mostly the discussion is brief. This forum will be, to discuss the Chengdu Super-10. Discussion about its more powerful engine, thrust-vector control, stronger airframe, movable canard and passive phased-array radar. Firstly shouldn't the new aircraft have and internal weapons bay as external weapon attachment to the wings will compromise the fighters stealth signature.

Re: Chengdu Super-10

Chengdu I have a better idea why don't we talk about the Super Gripen. If it is made it will be such a great plane. Surely somewhat in the Super-10 line.

There is already a topic on J-10, no need to create another one just for this "super-10". The idea was pretty much just a Russian one anyhow. Other than the increased thrust with TVC, everything else was disspelt as a proposal by Mikoyan.

There are basically two stages in my opinion:
1) using WS-10A (which has higher thrust and T/W ratio) than AL-31FN, have improved avionics, use AESA radar, more strengthened airframe. This will keep mostly the existing J-10 layout, but just keeps on improving the material used + use a better engine + upgraded radar
2) the really modified J-10 - they mentionned twin-engine J-10 on Chinese forums. Whether or not that is true, I'd expect more composite material used, possibly internal weapon bay, an airframe with lower RCS + the improved engine and radar/avionics.
