I think AssasinMace misread what huitong wrote, this is basically WZ-9 by GAIC. There was an article on this several weeks ago. Everyone thought it was JL-9, but it's actually about WZ-9.

Well all the CAC, SAC, AVIC I, AVIC II, etc. gets confusing to me but this is the page where I got the info from. It's the same text but at the bottom it talks about CAC and the links to the words, "stealth UAV" and "prototype" go to these pics that I posted before. So that's where I got it was being developed by CAC.

there's possibility two version of WZ-2000 may have exist, one sweep wing version,the other non sweep wing,long wing span (think of glider or even U-2) for high altitude recon UAV.
I suspect enlarge version using non-afterburning AL-31,with longer range than Wz-2000

I recalled 4 years ago, article from HK newspaper Dong feng daily ,report of massive PLAAF exercise in northern China,among new weapon is attack UAV."the UAV report travel hundred of mile ,from home base ( inner mongolia ?)flew hundred mile eastward successfully "attack and destroyed the target" and flew back to home base"
the article do not provide technical detail,nor picture.
recently the same newspaper report of H-8 "stealth bomber",again,technical drawing of flying wing appear in WMF,possbile scan from chinese aeronautic magazine,the drawing appear to be single seat demonstrator.

judging by the size of the vehicles seen in the same video, should be around 10-12 meters in length. Which would, i guess, make it a jet powered predator class recon uav. I'm guessing the choice of jet power over a turboprop engine means loitering capability is not as important to its missions as slightly increased survivability. (higher speed and ceiling)

That video is very clearly of this design.


Note that the rear engine fairing is missing. Presumably the long fairing is to reduce IR signiture.

Although the layout is very similar to the Global Hawk t is not a clone, there are numerous material differences to the design.

Something that is significant is that it has a satalite upling dish type 'canopy' (the white bit on the nose).

There are now at least two 'current generation' large UAV types that have made it off the drawing board and at least to prototype stage, this being the second.

Do some people in China hide in bushes in attempt to picture/video latest military equipment?

Seriously, this means UAV is fully or near operational because why would the military do tests of a plane in civilian areas.

Why hide in bushes when you can pick anyone of those buildings in the background to take pictures. Whether or not they are part of the testing facilities, someone with better info may want to clarify this, but I believe some of these facilities are notoriously located near public buildings. I remember seeing a pic of civilians sitting on top of trucks overlooking the wall of one of these facilities. I believe crobato mentioned in another thread that a planned 7-star resort on the island of Hainan will overlook China's nuke sub base. Not to also mention that Bejing wants to turn Hainan into an international island resort when they're also building their future main space launch base.

yeah a taxi test like that implies it hasn't flown yet. Strangely similar to EADS 'Barracuda" UCAV demonstrator which was photographed during taxi tests. Basically these things aren't as secret as we sometimes make out; a model of the damn thing has been shown at airshows as per my post above.

My question is whether this is the real WZ-2000?
