Re: New Chinese UAV

Another possibility is that the CCTV clip used stock footage which is not actually the new UAV, but more of a demo of what role the UAV would perform. We have seen this substitution in the past, and there are plenty of reasons why it would be done. An amateur would not care or tell the difference anyway.

talking about Xian ASN and they are well known for their UAV developments

They've done some reconnaissance UAV and target drones.

Looks like this is a new project and got 100 million Yuan - 12.5 to 15 million USD. Talks about a new UAV with different aerodynamics than previous ones finally taking the first flight. It's part of a national major defense project. Sounds like an advanced URAV in development.

Re: New Chinese UAV

You see above all the thread the yellow box, the one saying "Forum Tools" click the arrow and then select "Post a new thread" then presto....

With all these developments of large UCAV, URAV I cannot find any hint about China's micro URAV since its internet released micro URAV helicopter...probably high level security equipment for agents or other purposes...

Re: New Chinese UAV

the concept is very similiar US army predator attack drone, but power by jet engine rather than torboprop.but the missile do not even resemble HJ-10,I assume the reason why HJ-10 was not even select may be due to lack of range.

Re: New Chinese UAV

The first question I would ask, is the pix real or fake? However, it has very large V shape tail wings.

Re: New Chinese UAV

I would not be surprised if it is real, since the model of it was on public display. Not much of a secret, is it?

Re: New Chinese UAV

Some of those UAVs are built by private companies, how often PLA induct weapons from private companies?

I agree that it's no surprise if that is a real thing since the model has been displayed for sometime. But because the pix is too small and not clear, that's why I would have such a question. Let's wait for more pix to come out.

Re: New Chinese UAV

In the past, none. Recently new guidelines have passed for private enterprises to get permits to develop weapons for the domestic arms industry. So in the future, expect some privately-funded gadgets. Don't know when they'll start appearing, though.

Re: New Chinese UAV

Could be just a privately funded prototype, if the govt allows them such a degree of freedom.

Re: New Chinese UAV

Here's another pic out of CDF. I don't know why these pics just keep getting smaller.

Huitong now has it posted on his site and he says it's built by CAC.
